Shifting quickly is usually the answer to these sorts of issues. People who are slower and more methodical about these sorts of things tend to let the RPMs drop too far on an up-shift. This causes more work for the synchros which offer a bit more resistance that if you had shifted quickly and given the synchros very little work to do.

Rob, I had the same problem with my factory trans... We tried everything... fluids, synchros, shifter, shafts, gears etc... Nothing worked... as the power in the car went up, the problem got worse...

I finally cured the problem... but it took quite a bit of money to do so..

Rockland Standard Gear built me a custom one off transmission based on the 6060... Different gear ratios, high quality synchros, billet gears 1-5, 300 m shafts etc...

The big deal though was the internal shifting mechanism. The factory car has the floating shifter, with the two legs that go to the trans case, and the other two that go to the trans tunnel.

Mine is old school with the internal mechanism... The tail shaft housing is substantially longer than the factory unit and the shift lever sticks up out of the housing...

The trans is expensive but I haven't missed a shift since installing it... combined with the triple disc clutch... it all works seamlessly... Shifts are a simple, quick and buttery smooth...

If you can turn, you ain't going fast enough...

It's nice to see a real answer to the OP question. I was going to mention synchros and that is what he is feeling and asking about.
