There's a lot of good information on this thread. More than expected. I appreciate everyone's input on everything. I will definitely call today and work my way down to the $30-$40 6 month price everyone seems to be getting. Hopefully, it will be easier because I haven't had it active in my car since September 2013. Thanks again.

Guess it depends on if you use it... I still have my subscription but will probably drop it this year because I find internet radio better and free. If you get good cell service in your area then internet radio is a better alternative (provided you have unlimited data). If you travel a lot of rural areas then XM is a good value. Also some content is only on XM like howard stern so if you want to listen to that you will need XM. Really depends on if you find value in it or not if you ask me.

That's what I tried, thinking I could have a harrass-free experience.

Wrong. Got a 6-month/$25 deal, called, told them I wanted a bill and did not plan to renew, paid by check.

Fast forward to end of 6-months, they sent a new bill *after* they renewed the radio at full price, $110 for 6 months. I had wrongly assumed they would send me a notice with offers before my expiration date.

So I called to cancel, they said I still owed them $17 for the renewed month (charged in advance). I told them I was not going to pay, they said I signed an agreement (didn't), blah blah blah.

I told them I was not going to pay, could they cancel the charge? Eventually they said yes. (I was polite, firm, and patient, and did not mouth-off at the poor girl who works for this lousy company.)

From what I have read elsewhere, they will go after your credit rating for these unpaid invoices.

So, their practice is to renew and hassle even those who pay cash.

I now have about 6 phone numbers from Sirius on my cell phone block list. They call multiple times a day at all times.

I have no intention of ever using Sirius/XM again (on and off customer since 2002).

From what I gather, they are in trouble, the harrass-you-always policy is a sign of a failing company. Apparently, their satellites are old, with no plans to replace, so they are cutting back on bandwidth (music quality) to keep it alive.

They'll be out of business soon enough, especially with newer Internet radios on the rise.

But if you like paying $17/month and don't plan to ever ever cancel, go for it!

Oh, and if they ever get through to me again, I'm going to give them the name, address, phone number, and email address of the State Attorney General.

what i did was, when they offered me a 6 month promotion for 25$.. i told them to note a cancellation before the 6 months is over so i am not held liable to pay for reactivation fee (where they usually get all of their customers)

The thumb drive I use for music only cost me $15 and I know every song on it is one I like because I downloaded it. Plug it into the port in the armrest and away I go. Steering wheel controls work great with it too.

www.dvdvideosoft.com has a great software package that allows you to download the audio from ANYTHING on youtube. I now have ~40 gigabytes of music, and the only ones I paid for were the CD's I bought before Napster (now ripped to mp3)...

That would be pretty funny. Your mail going to their address and then calling them with several numbers. That comment made me chuckle.

Have them send you a bill.

Having said that, I've not had any issues (even cancelling). But there are the few (as with any service) that aren't happy, and their voice is louder than everyone without any issues.

when I had an hour commute to work I had it but when my job moved right next to my house I didn't need it anymore. nice to have it but wouldn't be using it much now, for sound quality for music it kind of stunk to be honest, the talk radio part was very nice but there are a couple talk stations in the area that are pretty good so can live without the XM version. everyone is different though!

To me it isn't worth the cost. It's so over compressed that it sounds horrible on a good sound system.

Well I just called and tried to use the tips from everyone, but it was a no go. I asked about re-activating the service in the car plus the "travel pack" (which displays weather, gas stations when low on fuel, etc) and they offered $20.88 a month plus taxes. I'm not in my car quite that much it just bothers me when features aren't active on it. I will think about it.

I have Sirius in the Charger as opposed to the XM in the Camaro. I let it run out due to it cutting out too much. Between the Bluetooth audio, USB and aux. I can have three sources through the stock system. Found out today how to get Pandora over Bluetooth. The voice command "Bluetooth Audio" worked. So now Other than missing out on the Eddie Trunk Show, I'm pretty happy.
