I just bought mine, 10-20-09, it has parking assist. Love it, our Mini Cooper has it as well. I also like the ding you get when you first put the car into reverse, nice little safety touch.

I need to get my vin..lol.

What exactly does the parking assist do? I'm not having a lot of luck finding info on it.

I heard that it's primary function is to drain your wallet and it's very effective.

You put your car into reverse and start backing up. If there is an object behind you and higher than a curb (like a wall), it will start beeping, slowly at first and then the closer you get to the object the beeping will get faster until you are within 12 inches, and the beep becomes a constant whine.

Wonder if they'd make this an over the counter add on ? Just need to drill a few holes and plug it into the harness ?
