This! Come on folks. some of you are driving so high horsepower cars and can't even park it.
So when the time comes, and it will eventually, you find it necessary to parallel park. I just hope it's not my car your trying to park between.
If everyone knew how to park then I wouldn't cringe when I have to park on street.

It took me some getting used to. Just takes practice. I came from a VW gti so the size difference was a big shock at first.

It's not that people don't know how to park. When being taught to drive, at least down here, parallel parking really isn't something that is practiced because we never use it. I didn't even have to parallel park for my driving test! Sometimes, the option never arises for one to practice or even attempt to park like that. I think i have only ever parallel parked one time, and it was voluntary. I didn't have to, but I wanted to see if I could. That was in my truck of course, though.

Same down here; there really is no need for it, unless you go into the city, but you can park in designated parking lots. And parallel parking wasn't part of my driving test.

I drive around until I find three empty parallel spaces in a row. Then I just pull in forward and call it done.

True, less dings in the sides, but I think the exposure on the front and back makes your car much more vulnerable in a parallel park situation. There are so many people who just plain can't do it, and make no mistake, they will hit your car.

Mine actually just got bumped on the rear quarter today (not the Camaro). Left a pretty decent scratch. Won't be parking there anymore.

Mirrors are your friend. Just aim the passenger side mirror down so you can see the curb.
Learn the dimensions of your car and use the rear view mirror when backing up.

You can pay me to do it. You'll soon learn I'm cheap! Take your time and don't scratch the paint or rims. Seriously, take your time(It's your car you'll want to take care of it). Time to invest in some Factory wheels with BFGoodrich tires. Or you could go with high dollar rims and Pirellis, mine are insured so if I get a blowout and ruin the wheel with the tire, it's covered. I'm currently on Facs and BFGs. My RS wheels and Pirellis are in the basement for now. I'd google parallel parking. It's not that hard and you will get better wiith practice, NYC will definitely give you plenty of opportunity and practice. I'd get a beater to start out with, thinking of the curb against tires and lower car. But you are the one parking.
