OK, just got back from a meeting with Rob at the Glen. Was there in time to do noon Thunder Road laps, for free, I might add. Got up to the track. Cancelled at last second because it's apparently a test day for the IMSA guys and the haulers were coming in and needed to get into the track at that time. Bummer. Oh wait, Stevenson Motorsports was there. Bonus. The Zs were in the garage. Went inside to check them out. Can I take pics? No, you can look, but no pics. Bummer. They are awesome though.
Anyway, as for the corral. Rob really came through. As stated in post 1, we are in the area behind the Reisbeck grandstand in turn 11. We will access from gate 6, not gate 2 this time. There is a grassy area with trees that is the Camaro Corral. No Mustangs, no Challengers, no Mazdas. only Camaros. We're less than a 100 feet from the pedestrian bridge at pit in. If we can't be inside, this is the next best thing. I bought my tickets while at his office. Per post 1, call him direct. He will put a parking pass in with your tickets when he mails them. You need this pass on your windshield to enter gate 6. Chevy is also sending some give-away stuff again. Supposed to find out next week if they're sending a car and/or rep. I give that about a 5% chance. Anyway, things are coming together and I feel a lot better about the corral situation now that I've seen it. More info as it becomes available.

Great news Mark. Thanks for your efforts...and sounds like you got a little fringe benefit in there as well. I just called Rob and paid for the tickets and called the CI in Corning and booked our room.

Talking to Rob it may be a little busier there this year so I may have to fight a little for premium shooting lanes. Looking forward to getting together with the Upstatec5 crew again.

Might be worth mentioning, although implied by being behind the grandstand, we have a minimal view of the track. Likely have to drag chairs up by the fence or go to the grandstand.

I don't know if I have to drag my 3lb. aluminum tube chair all that distance. I will probably have to stop and rest a few times at my age. The race will be over by the time I get there and sit down.

The grandstands are great anyway unless it is really sunny. If it is we will just need sunglasses and lots of sunscreen (not that we don't need those things anyway). I may not bother bringing chairs or canopy.
