I think we are forgetting some history. In the years past, GM "pony" cars were sold by both Chevy and Pontiac. With no Firebird now this should increase Camaro sales. Just think if GM did away with GMC division how the Chevy truck sales numbers would increase.

LMAO, Wonder where this guys heart is?
Why do you suppose, however, that with a backlog of 10k+ that GM can only get this many out? It would seem that, if they can build more than 10k per month, then they could deliver that many. |

I agree, I'd think something more like two quarters would be more in line with a trend.

...and as long as unscrupulous dealers try to gouge and cheat potential Camaro buyers Mustang will continue to outsell the Camaro in the long run. I'm just sayin'.
Am I angry and bitter? Hell yes!

How many months now has the Camaro been selling? Or more specifically, been delivered to customers?
Now... how many months - er - years has the Mustang been selling? Two months of sales on the first year release of a car with a large enthusiast following makes sense that it would outsell it's rivals. How many Mustang enthusiasts bought this year? Last year? The year before that? I suspect that those that ran out and bought their new Mustang last year or earlier this year may not be running out this year to buy a new one. I know I wouldn't be able to afford the latest and greatest model every yearly release *shrug*. Perhaps the numbers would be different if Ford released their Mustang at the same time as the Camaro - and after a similar hiatus. Then all those Mustang enthusiasts would be buying along with the Camaros'. Actually, I'm pretty impressed with both numbers and how close they are considering... Anyway, I am happy that the Camaro is outselling the Mustang - it's good news for GM. But lets remember to keep things in perspective. ![]() I don't know any real numbers... but I would guess that if you were to look at the overall sales for say 10-15 years, they'd all probably end up pretty close between manufacturers, maybe I'm wrong though. Cheers all!

Interesting thing here is that anyone who is serious about a mustang and who is reading the mustang forums and looking at upcoming new models is far better off waiting for their new models with competitive engines - so no real surprise that their sales will be more "soft"

I would hope that a highly anticipated (by enthusiasts) car, that has been out of production for 8 years, would outsell the long-time running model, at the beginning of production. If the roles were reversed, I would bet that the Mustang would be outselling the camaro by a far wider margin.

Incorrect GM, Ford, Chrysler, etc. record a sale when it is delivered to the dealer. That is when the car is invoiced and that is when GM counts it.
