So being the inexperienced guy that I am ( dont tell my wife ), what kind of prep work has to be done in order to mount and ride with this hood?

Absolutely nothing. This hood is ready to be installed and rocked until the wheels fall off your car. Some people like to think it needs cleared coated to protect it more, if you want you can do that...it never hurts to add another coat besides the resin clear we use.

Well if it weighs 50 pounds that is stated in the link to buy, +12 pounds over OE, I'll pass.
