I feel like this has become a thread of people flinging poo at eat other, so I'll point out 1 thing that hopefully will calm people down. The OP never stated in his original post that he was on the street, on a track, or where he was at all. So jumping to conclusions and curb-stomping the poor guy was unnecessary. He could have been on the track. he could have been on a 5km straight stretch on a freshly paved highway with no humans around for miles. He could have been in a school zone. We didn't know because he didn't say. So let's not jump to conclusions, and pleased, put your poo away. No one wants it flung at them.

Also, there are hundreds of places where there isn't a track around for hundreds of miles, so if you want to "open it up" you need to assess your risk accordingly, and make that decision. Hopefully that decision won't risk someone else's injuries, however risking your own is sometimes worth it.

Wrong, we do know because of this:

Yesterday night I was bored and wanted to push my car so I put it in manual mode.
He was driving probably on the freeway, got bored, and stepped on it. Not got bored and took it to a closed course/track.

You'd have to be a moron not to realize from that sentence alone that he was NOT in a safe environment.
And by safe I don't mean, oh it looks like minimal to no traffic, I mean a closed course.

I wouldn't bank on that. I was talking to a coworker yesterday who has a car that she only uses for to and from work travel. because she only uses it for that limited purpose, she gets a discounted rate for that vehicle. but, sometimes she uses it during the work day to make trips to the bank and other work related stuff. and the day before, she got a call from her insurance company (state farm) telling her that they would be using the sync system in the car along with her phone to track how many miles she is driving.

you should read the new a bit and see just what data is out there to be mined.

reckless driving on roads that are shared by everyone and their friends and familys is never going to get a warm fuzzy response here. there's too many mature adults here. what really goes on is (most likely) younger kids come here to post tales of fast and loose driving thinking that because it's a camaro board they get a bunch of that a boys and pats on the back.

And here you go flinging poo again. If it really upsets you that much, message an admin. Don't call names, don't be rude.

I'm not trying to call names, but it's obvious that the OP was NOT on a closed course I don't like the idea of reckless drivers going so dangerously fast, and complaining that it's still not fun enough for them.

I don't know if it records that, but data is being collected, stored, and analyzed like never before. it's almost reached Orwellian levels. phones, camera, even drones are recording massive amounts of it that seems to be pretty easily accessible.

I wonder at times whether on some of the express and HOV lanes which utilize cameras and other devices with which to read / recognize transponders required to travel these lanes without stopping either at the toll booths or just to use the lanes at all, whether they're monitoring the speed at which vehicles travel, as well?

TXDOT uses Bluetooth phones to compute travel times. They ID the phone, then listen for it farther down the road. While both the phone and tag can be tracked, you'd need to ID the driver to issue the ticket.
