Setting fire to two hundred and sixty bucks and throwing it out the window blows, bro. My cop friends... those who chose that route rather than something honorable like preaching, garbage collection, driving a taxi or whatever, all agree court costs are out of control...

Grow up and get real. Man up. Using the hypocrite crap is childish. Do police take liberties? You betchya! I would too needing to blow off steam and stress dealing with assholes all day.

Peace!
Police are here to uphold and enforce the law, not to break it. If a cop has a bad day because he's had to deal with assholes, that doesn't give him the right to speed just because he's a cop and can "get away with it." This is the OP's point in regards to the hypocrite comment. Cops here in Memphis, TN do it all the time. I see them flying down the highway at 90+ with no lights on. I followed one just to see where he was going.. he stopped at a Walgreens. This obviously doesn't pertain to ALL cops, but most of them have done it in the past and continue to do it. Hell, even in states where cell phone laws apply where texting/using a cell phone is illegal while driving (which here in TN, it is illegal), I see cops on their phones all the time. One was on the news a few weeks ago for rear ending someone in his patrol car because he was on his phone.

...my brother's been a policeman in a major metropolitan area twenty-seven years. He knew what he wanted to be when he grew up from the time he was two years old, by the way.

You want discrimination? Try driving my Camaro with the color combo. I get police following me begging me to go more than 5 mph over so they can nab me, I also get the nastiest looks from them, like I'm up to something or whatever.

I think it's your use of the word "discrimination" that is holding you back here.

Color doesn't matter. It's loud ass exhaust that gets you attention from the police.

I do believe some cops single out sports cars. If they cant catch you speeding, theyll pull you over for some other illegal modification (taillight tint, window tint checks, exhaust sound levels) just so they can harass you and abuse power.

In your instance, however, you were speeding and I believe rightfully pulled over... even though you were feeling ill.
Doesn't matter what car I drive , I can never seem to get through Georgia without getting a ticket.

I made my devils advocate opinion...

As well...it is common practice to NOT use lights or sirens on the freeway because people react to an officer going 85 plus erratically. Hell...I seen a trooper...lights and sirens...left lane...4 lane highway. Person in left lane slammed on his brakes (had all 3 lanes to right free and clear) and pulled over TO THE LEFT!!!..almost causing an accident.

Point? It is safer and more prudent to NOT use lights and sirens while speeding in certain situations...each officer weighs this decision based on traffic conditions, weather, incident. To allude to the thought that ALL officers speeding without lights and sirens are hypocrites is irresponsible. It would be as if I said all people who drive a 1LE because of how one person drove recklessly or he was a dick to me when I said hi...that I infer that ALL 1LE drivers are dicks.

With that....there are specific guidelines...both state AND departmental which address when and how light and sirens are to be used. Lights and sirens are a MUST on surface streets where traffic and pedestrians are present....but on the freeway...people react like idiots when they finally see lights and or hear sirens.

Some officers are hypocrites...but that's maybe 1% I am certain someone in your family isn't perfect. And I don't judge you for your far from perfect family member just as I don't judge all officers for the action of one.

All I know is, after living in Florida for 7 years, comparing it to the ROW, most towns and cities there are like a "police state."

That is the truth.

Now I don't know how the rest of the US is, but man I'm glad I'm outta there, it was too overwhelming for me.

1. I'm French, but that does apply everywhere

2. Looks like police overhere is more scared by my car than jealous

3. I hate to see police begging for more taxes by spying your speed on the road while murderers, rapers and burglars are doing evil few miles away

4. I hate the "they just do their job" thing. Doing your job is more than blindly apply what the big boss said

5. 65 on a highway ... damn, here in France is 80mph on the highway and it's already boring .... use your vote to change these stupid politics applying such low speed limits ...

6. Anyway, for sure, when looking at 2 cars going the same speed, the relatively low paid police officer will most of the time aim the "rich" guy car with a sporty one. We all know "rich" guys with sporty cars are the most dangerous ....
