The BA system is the only option we got outside of the 1LE package. It is ok, but I do not go above 30 on the volume. I think much above that it would distort and begin to do damage. Was it worth the $500? having never heard a base system I do not know. It works well fine for me, but I agree it does not seem as good as the Monsoon system in the 01 WS6 this car replaced. I will say that I really love the MyLink and the satellite radio.

Boston Acoustics system is actually pretty good, a big gap between stock sound system and this. Also a big gap in-between subwoofer system and Boston Acoustics.

I think that it matters on the source. Some stations on XM sound ok and some don't, but Pandora ROCKS and no drop out!

The BA system is not complete crap as some will say...although it is not exactly great either. I'd say its OK.

That said, I have a early/mid 2010 build, which I believe was before they backed off the amp power so the stock speakers would stop blowing as easly as they did early on...so maybe thats why I don't mind mine as much.

The mids and highs are pretty good and clear in my opinion, and only really start to distort when you want to go REALLY loud with it. The bass on the other hand...has its moments. Sometimes I'm impressed with it (at least in terms of having no sub)..and other times it seems like its missing tones altogether. The bass also doesn't like to go really loud.

Honestly, for all but the hardcore audio peeps, the stock BA with a simple sub in the back would make for a damn good setup.

I like mine enough, but it needs a sub, which I have in the garage waiting to go in soon. But I have not really adjusted it a ton yet either.

I do love the sound of my cold air intake and stock exhaust more now though and find myself listening to the car more on my work commute. Long highway trips though would require tunes!

To be fair, I find the sounds of my LS3 cute. It sounds good and all, but, my other car sets off car alarms.

I might add that the quality improves DRAMATICALLY with a new head unit. I put my Pioneer X910BT in my 2010 before it was stolen and WOW what a difference from the stock stereo!

I agree with the assessment of the Camaro engine sound, and whenever we start the '69, it sets off the smoke detector with the exhaust! Don't do enough street driving to know about the alarms, but imagine it would!

I'm certainly not an audiophile but the Boston system in my '14 2LT sounds pretty good to me. My gf has a 2012 Acura TSX with the Pioneer sound system and the Boston is at least as good if not better. My brother has the stock sound system in his 2013 A3 and said mine sounds a lot better.

That reminds me of my 99 Formula I had with Ceramic Coated Longtubes, no Cats and open Borla. I would set off at least three alarms in the parking garage on my way into work and out each day. One day a guy jumped out in front of me accusing me of hauling butt through the garage. He literally said "The speed limit in the Garage is 5MPH!!!" I replied, "what was I going 6 or 7MPH??? the car is loud, get over it!"

For a rumbling V8, the Mustang GT is quiet inside, and the V6 is even quieter. So the Shaker Pro audio system can blow your head off. Like Ford says, a complete acoustic experience that simulates being at a live performance. There are two Shaker sound systems; in the Mustang GT Premium it's eight speakers and six channels, while the Shaker Pro with nine speakers was found to be so loud during testing that extra sound-absorption material was added to the Mustang.

"Then there's the new sound system. Buyers may skip the base stereo by stepping up to GT Premium trim. Doing so swaps the components for those of either the Shaker sound system with eight speakers and six channels of audio, or the mighty Shaker Pro system found in our tester. With nine speakers crammed into the confines of the cabin, including two tweeters aimed directly at passengers to replicate the concert experience, the system is so loud that Ford had to redesign the interior body panels to withstand the abuse of the stereo's highs and lows. In fact, Ford says the Shaker systems can produce deep bass just beyond the frame of human hearing. It's the kind of low you can feel sliding down your rib bones. Crank Queens of the Stone Age to inhumane levels and you'll find yourself with Josh Homme's tongue writhing its way down your ear canal. The tiny bones of your inner ear know they've never felt this way before, but they like it. It's equal parts sexy and amazing.
The Shaker Pro (which I have) is pretty damned awesome and worth every penny. Turning up the Bass sets off alarms with some of the music I listen to. Disturbed's Down With The Sickness will do it every time.

I always thought the Boston Acoustics in my SS sounded okay, but the Mercedes I recently purchased sounds 10x better and it has the base Mercedes system.

A friend in high school had some model Subaru, and on one radio station when he would honk the horn it would come through the speakers!!? Weirdest thing.
