On one hand, I'm very happy that GM is seeing such success with the Camaro. And to think, those idiots wants to permanently put the car on mothballs! This should prevent them from ever making that mistake again, at least for the foreseeable future.

On the other hand, now I'm driving the "me too" car. These cars are everywhere and certainly not unique anymore.

Overall, I should be glad I'm driving a high quality car that I love and can afford, so I guess I'm winning in the deal.
When were they ever unique? If you want a unique car, you don't buy a Camaro or a Mustang. I think the word you were looking for is "novel", which the were back in 2009/2010.

I think its really nice to see the Camaro at the end of its life cycle still selling every bit as strong as when it came out. I still think theres a couple more months where it will top the best sales ever before the new car comes out.

August should be another strong Camaro month.

September and October could be really bad for Camaro since both the '15 Challenger and Mustang will begin to make their presence known on dealer lots. October could be extremely ugly.

Right now Mustang and challenger are selling off old stock. No new Mustangs have been produced since mid June I think and challenger production switched over 3 weeks ago

July 2014 Car Sales: Five Of The Big Six Surge

Quote:
General Motors: GM [NYSE:GM] says it sold 256,160 vehicles in July, up 9.4 percent on the year-ago period.

Chevrolet was up 7.7 percent to 175,155 vehicles.
GMC was rose 22.2 percent to 48,081 units, and all nameplates saw their sales rise.
Cadillac was down 2.6 percent, falling to 15,241 units.
Buick was up 7.9 percent, to 17,683 units, for its best July since 2006.
Camaro sales were up 25 percent, while Corvette sales tripled. Sales of the Chevy Volt were up 13 percent.
So looks like a great month for GM. Glad that I was a part of the 25%!

Love the graphs and figures, always look for them at the beginning of the month.

If you look at the average sales per month stat you will notice that this year so far is the best year for all 3 of these cars..... I think this is saying a lot of good about this segment and promises continued investments into this segment maybe even by a non traditional.

no, let's do. How so? What makes any mass produced car unique? I have a ZL1, but I don't consider it unique by any means. There are hundreds of others ordered that look just like mine. Therefore, it is not unique.

By your definition, the 2015 Mistang will be unique by virtue of having a new body style versus what is already out there.

On face value no car in which is produced in a number greater then 1 is unique.....

However in this regard context is important, you could say that the Camaro (the vehicle in it's design) is unique. You can argue that there are no other massed produced car that is quite like it (and honestly in this regard I would agree). I think that this is what makes the 5th generation Camaro special, some of the things in which people complain the most about this car is what makes it special.

Just about every car I have owned has been unique, but I made them that way by customizing it.

THIS!

If you are buying a car off the lot thinking it is unique, I pity you.

this^^^ I see maybe 3-5 14' Camaros a day, compared to maybe 1 or 2 13-14 Mustangs. Camaro's are everywhere around me.

a retro 2 door pony car with a long hood and short rear deck, taking inspiration from the late 60's....yep not one other car out there using the same formula. Totally unique hahaha

If sales of the refresh remain this strong, I wonder if they will hold off longer on the 6th Gen release
