Wonder if you can get a new glovebox and install yourself.

I don't think that would fix it. From what I see a lot of people are having this issue so it sounds like a production issue not so much a problem here and there.

you might try wrapping a little electric tape around the latch to keep it from being metal on metal and thicken it up till it gets tight, or apply some sort of plastic coating around the latch and let it dry...I think if you get the metal on metal contact fixed, it should fix it, or at least deaden the sounds some.

There isn't any metal on metal on the latch that I can see... The latches on the sides are plastic.
