that's not how insurance works..

1. it doesn't matter if it is your insurance or his, your insurance will know about it thru the insurance company databases

2. it can't go against you and your rates can't go up if you are not at fault, and if you are at fault your insurance will know about it..

3. you pay for the service, you should use it.


while you may never have had any issues dealing with "the other guy", most people do, and I for one don't have the time or patience to be bothered. My time is worth more, hence why I paid my insurance company to take care of me, let them fight with the other guy, their job is to take care of my needs, that's what I pay them for.
