It does make sense but it doesn't....I've had lenders in the past try to push the 6 yr loan on me and tell me I can always pay it off in 5 just pay more per month. This is honestly the first time i have gone with a 6 yr loan on a vehicle. It is your choice but I would definitely look somewhere else if you really want a 6 yr loan.

i've never had a 6 year loan either, but of course i have only had one loan and it's a 5 year LOL! i would like to not have to have a 6 year but it just would work better with my budget if i could do that. i will try to pay 400 a month no matter what like i do now on my grand prix, but it's always nice to know that you don't HAVE to pay that much if you're a little tighter on money one month... know what i mean?!?

Hmm...why does mine seem so high?

MSRP - 2SS/RS, IOM interior, GFX, IOM Stripes - $40,030
T,T&L ~ $4,200
Down payment - $11K
3.99 for 60 months ~ $612 a month
These doesn't take the extended warranty into account - if I get one.

[QUOTE=haleyd;835117]my credit union says that there is no reason why i can't pay 370 a month. QUOTE]

Tell them there's no reason you couldn't pay $1000 a month, but you're not going to do that either. It's not up to a CU to decide what you feel comfortable paying. Thats total

LMAO! i thought that too. actually i guess they decided (i found this out a few days ago) that they aren't letting anyone do a 6 year loan right now. oh well, a 5 is no big deal... i'll just save an extra 1000 before i get my car! i've decided to wait until i have all the money saved up then i'm going to order... that way once i order i'll still have a little while to save even MORE!

edit: sorry, don't mean to make this about me "whining about my car"... LOL!!!!

MSRP: $35,900 + tax, title, license...
Paid GMS: $33,300 + tax, title, license and a car cover. Came to $36,100 out the door.
$500 deposit down
Financed $35,600 @ 4.74% for 72 months = $265 every two weeks through my CU.

Not sure why you want to know, its simple math and all the numbers are out there...

MSRP you can get online
Standard APR you can get online
Plenty of loan calculators online

Really the question comes down to what did people pay, what did they put down and how long did they finance it for..

17K down and $505.00 a month at 7.1% for 72 months. Car was $40,395.00 MSRP. I'm refinancing today to get my interest rate down to 4.7% for 60 months with Chase Auto Refinance and my wife co-signing. Payments will be $550.00 a month. Loan will be under 28K.

damn I paid $34,300 for my 2LT (all upgrades, con pkg, 20", ambient lighting, etc) except manual and no RS. Seems a couple of you got much cheaper deals with automatic trans & RS included...I hate dealers.....I live north of Atlanta and I got one of the first ones in the area.

Financed $35,000 (Car price + GAP and Extended Warranty + Tax/Title), $2000 down(so I paid $37,000). 7% interest, $533 a month, 66 months.....I got a sun roof and slash gaurds too...couple more grand for those.

Yes, that makes total sense. I did that with my '05 Dodge Ram Daytona. Paid it off in 3 years. Extra cash, put towards the debt.
I think it's not so much the banks that are being tough, it's the way they are being regulated now adays because of all the people that took out loans that couldn't afford them to begin with and screwed themselves and the banks. I think their just being "extra" cautious.
Have you tried financing through GMAC? They may be able to do that 6 year type of loan.
GOOD LUCK!
