Yeppers. Similar rules here in Idaho. I looked into that when setting my Duramax up with emergency strobes.
Blue is illegal here anywhere on a non-emergency vehicle. Reserved for Police
Red is ok on the Rear but not the Front. Front reserved for emergency.
Amber and white anywhere.

not knowing the law in your state is not an excuse. as a matter of fact if you travel through other states you must conform to each state's laws. ignorance is no excuse.
it sucks but that's the way it is.

Why not just make your car legal? You can have a great looking car AND be within the law.

Some states allow emergency responders to outfit their Privately Owned Vehicles with emergency lights, provided they store certain equipment (eg. EMS personnel carrying a first aid kit and/or defib). That way, even an off-duty member can respond to an emergency while in their own car. Maybe one day that emergency is saving your life.

So it is entirely possible to see a Camaro outfitted with LEGAL emergency lights.

Now, the law, written by your own elected officials, states no forward-facing red lights and no blue lights are allowed on non-emergency vehicles while in motion on any public road. Respect it. By contravening this law, you are hurting someone: the credibility of actual emergency personnel who rely on citizens seeing their emergency vehicles and actually moving over instead of just mistaking them for another ricer moron who decided blue halos would "look dope cuz yolo n shit".

So far I have not been stopped and I work swing shift and I saw at least a dozen cops that saw me but they didn't stop me. Sorry about your ticket he should have given you a warning first.
Cincinnati police use "beacon lights" for visibility. Always on, not flashing.

But saying that you don't care about the law , most laws are there for a reason

And it happen more often than one thinks , some nutcase goes around with some red/blue lights and pulling people over and robbing them , specially women driving alone
That's one off the reasons that is against the law
I think you misunderstood what I was saying. When it comes to red and blue lights on my car, I don't use them. It's not that I don't care about the law... but in this case, it's a personal thing, and even if there were no laws against it, I wouldn't do it. So in that respect, I don't care about the law. Understand??

What everyone else does is up to them. It's none of my business.

That actually is incorrect, for moving violations you are correct, but your vehicle itself has to obey the laws of the state you are registered in, not the state you are in currently. For example, if someone from PA comes to NY with a vehicle registered in PA, they do not need a front plate. The same goes for tint and other vehicle specific things.

It doesn't depend on the cop, it doesn't matter if the lights don't flash, and it doesn't matter what you think. It's illegal in all 50 states.
