Unfortunately, dealerships can refuse service to customers even on a warranty claim. But here's what you do. They already looked at your car and had to submit some type of warranty work to GM. That means GM will more than likely send you a satisfaction survey. Just mark down how satisfied you were with the service, but that doesn't mean mark it all bad, read each one and ensure that the overall outcome of your experience doesn't effect your total scoring. For Example if your service advisor was great put that down. A bad survey can cost the dealership some serious money, but you don't want someone their that was trying to help you out to get screwed over to. Just some FYI.

most service managers are moreons trust me .my brother law has been a gm for over 20 years .and has no clue on the cars that are made .you can file a complaint to the owner but if that owner likes his manager then he will not do anything to him ..but they can not sue you trust me .they dont have money for that .tell your service manager he wont be getting my business either ..invite him out for a drink and then.

surveys mean everything to the dealerships.

I have a friend who runs a Chevy store in NC and I always buy from him because he gives me killer deals, but I always have my car serviced by a dealership close to home and they treat me great, and I always take care of them on the survey. The dealership where I get my service appreciates my business and he is also a friend of mine. He would rather I purchase from his store but he understands.

The survey is very important to the dealer!

Also, I was under the impression that dealers make more money on warranty repairs, and post warranty repairs than they would on the actual car sale. I could be wrong, as I am only repeating what I had heard sometime or another. But if that is the case, then not "selling" the original car shouldn't be a sore spot really. Best of luck, I had issues with the sales side, it did work out but they too did not like my posts here, and told me about it!!!

Warranty work doesn't pay the Dealership anything, or next to nothing. Customer pay items dealerships make some money but not warranty.

So I suppose all the folks that had their dropped shipped cars are just SOL then eh?

I bought my car 45 minutes from my location, but I'm not driving down there for maintenance.

Not to personally attack you, but aren't you car salesman anyway? You have a personal stakes/bias in this whole conversation. If you treat a customer with dignity and a little respect, you'll have a repeat one.... if you treat me like I shouldn't even be driving the car, than I'll treat you the same.

The dealer who agrees to do the drop ship gets paid so they are technically, the delivering dealer (not the same case).

Your choice.

Not to personally attack you, but aren't you car salesman anyway? You have a personal stakes/bias in this whole conversation. If you treat a customer with dignity and a little respect, you'll have a repeat one.... if you treat me like I shouldn't even be driving the car, than I'll treat you the same.

Not to personally attack you either, but aren't you a consumer anyway? You have a bias in this whole conversation. If you are a consumer and walk into any dealership with an attitude and sense of entitlement, you will be shown the door accordingly.

I think this whole thread got a little off track. KJS stated later on that this conversation took place over the phone and then the service manager followed up and had an attitude. I'm not saying, at this point, that either party was right. I just think it turned into a pissing match and nobody won.

Thanks for the spirited discussion.

Take your car to be serviced some where else....

If he's treating the customers this way..who knows how's he's treating the workers that are working on people's vehicles.....

Don't you work for a Chevy dealer. If so please tell me which one, so I can avoid it.

PM me if you want to discuss. I can be found all over this forum if you're really so concerned. Better yet, post your VIN number so I can keep an eye out for your Corvette.

I purchased my wife's Cadillac at one dealership and have all warranty work done at the dealership near my work. Never once have they treated me any differently b/c I purchased it at the competition. They are great guys to deal with.

Because of this, I send many people to them for service (especially specialized service) even though I own a Bridgestone/Firestone dealership in the same town. Have even sold them a couple of cars here lately.

The perception of the customer about how he was treated is the "end all" in business. The customer (the one who pays money), sometimes unfortunately, is always correct. The dealership (the one who wants to make money) has to please the customer to remain in business.

The business world is driven by the consumer and the dealership, service writer and RPO Z28 would do good to figure that out sooner than later.
