My reply came across like a jackass...it was not intentional. Looks like a good product but expensive.

Ok, my mechanic at the dealer was kind enough to pull both out to compare. Big differences as stated are the number of holes in the top and that the PF64 has the anti-drain back valve near the top of the filter vs the 48R where it is near the bottom.

They all felt the 48R was the better quality filter but based on what GM is telling us, the cheaper filter is better.

the difference is clear. I see why the PF-64 is prefered for track use vs the UPF48R.
