As far as I understand, it's not reading that it's full. You could fill it with half the amount of oil, reset the oil % back to 100%, and it doesn't care. It will just change the % down depending on how you drive.

As mentioned, does not mean 100% full, means 100% life. This is a manual setting, meaning the oil can be changed and deal never reset if they forget. Oil needs to be checked after the change, by them and by the owner, just as if the owner had changed it themselves.

I take All my cars and trucks to Valvoline for oil changes. I don't have the time and I don't want the mess of taking the oil somewhere to have it recycled. This is one chore I won't waste My time on.

I also went back a few days later because I didn't pick up enough gear oil and said I needed one more quart. The guy gave me the wrong kind and insisted he was right. So once again I had to prove them they were wrong. Long story short, I called up another local dealer who has great service reviews, registered my name in their system and told them if I have to bring it in for any wArranty work I will be using them. The other dealership doesn't have a clue. |

Yikes. Just made my appointment for my first (and free) Accord oil change. I'll be " that guy " and pop the hood when they pull my car up. I don't care what they think.

By the time I got in the car, drove it to some shop, sat in their waiting room for them to do the job, double checked everything they did to make sure it was right, and drove back home, I could change the oil, wash the car and mow the yard with time to spare. Doesn't really take long to change oil yourself.

To each their own, I love working on cars, I was a mechanic for 10 years but I choose not to change the oil. Not knocking either way but this works for Me. |

Thats true I guess, I've got a 300 gallon waste oil tank that gets emptied every 3 months and I get paid for the oil, so that's not a negative for me.

'I used to work at a Mavis, we would literally RUN from one bay to the next working on 2-3 cars at once while people scream in spanish and the boss pops out of the door to yell tire sizes and duck back in the office before anybody could say "What!?". Our oil comes from a hose that dangles from the ceiling, I once poured 7 quarts into a northstar engine before I realized the drain plug was still out. I once got flustered and started an engine on a Lumina without putting oil in it first (only for about ~3 seconds).
And I once saw a firebird get destroyed on a lift when a guy tried being slick and only put one of the four arms behind the front tire and lifted it, tearing the fender off the car and bending the body so the doors would not open. (the lift button was on the other side so he couldn't see it happening) Stay away from anything "discount", I can give you 4 new tires and oil change in less time than it takes you to pay for it at the register (really I can!) |
