The base V6 will have right around the same power as a Mustang GT, and for a lot loss, even if it was $23k. Plus it will be newer and look a lot better. Maybe they will lose a few customers if the price is around a "loaded" Cobalt SS, but I don't think it will hurt them too much.

And yes the GT-R would take a Camaro on a track, but for God-Sakes, its over twice as much as a "base" V8 Camaro will be. Now consider the Supercharged V8 Camaro, now that will definitely give the GT-R a run for it's money, and for significantly less still. I dunno why Motortrend wrote that, but they might as well compare it to an Audi R8 in that case.

New Camaro (V8 - 400-420 hp) will do 4.5 sec (on average) 0-60mph. It will run the 1/4 mile in 12.7 @ 109 mph.

It may be slower than that (on average).

The reason is the weight. The new Camaro will weigh close to 3800 lbs (estimate). With around 400hp, it will be a high 12 sec car (on average).

Don't forget the Corvette with the LS3 (430hp) and 3200 lbs runs low to mid 12s. So the Camaro will be slower than the Vette with the same engine and more weight,

The base V8 should be able to give the R8 a run for it's money...(that is what you were saying, right? ) According to Audi - the R8 goes to 60 in 4.5 seconds...well, so should the Camaro. But at 70,000 dollars less.

Yes, that's exactly what I am saying. They could have said the R8 instead of the GT-R and been a lot closer to reality, and possibly make it sound cooler.

Yeah, like I said, it could lose some customers.... IF this is accurate, and I wouldn't put any money on it being accurate. But then again, we can't expect GM to start practically giving away fast cars. $23k would not be too bad considering it's horsepower. It's very hard to find a 300 hp car for $23k. But if it did start at around $20k, I'm sure they would get a lot more attention.

my issue is budget... i'd be selling my shirt and my soul for a 22k$ camaro... and that is factoring in options... if i can't get a camaro for 22k why buy one? i want some good options in the car... this is when i start looking for that small RWD car in the "rationalizing RWD" thread... Fbod wanna help me out here?

Keep in mind, we don't know what is standard and will be optional, so you might very well be able to get the Camaro you want for around $23k..."keep the faith!"

(We need a "keep the faith" smiley, btw).

Yeah, just wait and see what happens. It would be great to see a $20k Camaro. But we have no way of knowing what's going to be for sure. GM probably doesn't even have the exact numbers figured out.

It is hard to find a V6 FWD camacord-ish family sedan for $23K. I think that's an entirely reasonable price for a RWD performance car.

So, you mean it would give the GT-R a run for less than it's money.

Sometimes it's easy to forget that a cliche/idiom is made of individual words...

I'd love a V6 RWD manual transmission car for less than 23k (way less). I've always wanted a Camaro. I'm seriously hoping the new Camaro can deliver on both hopes in a car I will actually be comfortable in and enjoy.
