Only issue I can imagine is if you leave it above SP5 and someone drives your car without knowing.
I've had mine since January. Others have had theirs longer, but I don't know when it came out. It's a fairly common mod on other cars and throttle controllers have been around for a few years. All it does is open up the throttle blades a lot faster than the stock software allows. It's just a go between. I don't think there are many problems it could cause, because it really only affects one thing - the throttle body and how fast it responds to pedal input.

Now, if you keep it on SP9 all the time and beat the heck out of your car every time you drive it, you'll probably need new tires quickly. Maybe some other probs too. I don't think anyone will do that.

Once you get a CAI, ported TB and headers you won't need or want one. I got rid of mine because my car was throwing a TPS code with it. I just installed a CAI and scoop and I can already see when I get my TB and headers I won't miss it. If your car is stock it will feel nice, but I'd save the money for perm mods.

hate to tell you this but I have a headers full cat back with a cold air intake and a tune with the adm scoop and ported throttle body and moved my washer bottle. and then I put this in and I can tell you I fell this big time. I would say 98 percent of people on Camaro 5 love it. maybe there was something wrong with yours.

To each his own, there are plenty of people on here that dont have it and are fine. The difference I felt with just the cai and scoop makes me think I personally wont need it. If you like it and feel like its a good fit for you then thats great.

This forum is awesome. Being somewhat of a newbie, I only have heard about VTC but have no idea what it's all about.

Just a few minutes after reading this thread, I want one.

I have one and here are the problems I can see it causing. On a LS3 or LSA you could wear out your clutch a little faster if slipping it more. You can easily wear out your tires faster and while you are having so much fun with it you use up more gas.

For now yes, for sure. Like I said on a stock car the difference is great. With removing it and installing the CAI/scoop/washer relocation and the difference it made I believe I would delete it after ported TB and headers.

I dont forsee anything bad happening but there were some guys on here talking about the risk of interfering with the throttle control being that is all electronic and the issues some other manufacturers had with run away vehicles. I dont know that it would ever happen with the VTC, but why add risk if there is no necessity?

It all comes down to personal choice and preference in the end.

This company is taking tremendous risk with this device. No way that I would use one. The fine print on their website tells me all I need to know. Messing with the DBW system in a modern auto is trouble.

Instant throttle response. Throughout the entire range... not just on takeoff. The difference is amazing. No way to describe it. It is a LOT of fun.

This device seems to remove the deadband that is calibrated into the foot pedal input response. It is there for a reason. I believe it does what it says. The statement "must not be used on public roads" is a serious CYA.

Caused my car to go into "reduced engine power" constantly. Quit using it. Wasn't worth it. Maybe I just got unlucky, haven't really read others having the same issue or not.
I don't have actual proof of this but it's ironic that the issue never happened until I installed it and it stopped after I pulled it.

You controller is bad, they will replace it or refund it for you. If the controller every fails it is supposed to go to reduced power. That is the built in safety feature that was covered in discussion when they first came out.

When did you purchase it? There were others that said they had the same issue, maybe there was a faulty batch?
