I just spent 5K going through the manual for the 3rd time and I lost count on the clutches... oh yeah, 5..... If this manual breaks I'm going auto. I still think the stock manual can handle more power than the stock auto but it is so easy to make stupid power with this car that even "upgraded" stock parts are not enough.

I bought a manual because it was in the car that I liked. It's possible I would have bought an automatic had there been one available.

My wife can't drive a stick and is convinced to this day that I bought a manual so she couldn't drive it, but it's not true.

I do think with the ZL1 it doesn't matter which transmission you get. They're both awesome!

I insist on a STICK, yes old school boomer who lived with Muscle cars of the 60's and 70's and completely enjoying the last 5 years with auto manufactures pushing technology further! No paddle shifts back then, but we had push button trannies.

It's always easy to find the M6 ZL1s at the strip.

Look for the guy in the rearview mirror making excuses and asking about launch control settings.

I miss driving my manual but I choose the auto for one reason and it can't be beat...

Yep always easier to have the car do the work for ya. Push the pedal and go. How fulfilling, what an accomplishment!

Maybe they could put them in classes at the dragstrip. The faster ones (autos) would be in a higher class and the (manual) slower ones would be in a lower class.

Or the real drivers(manual) in one class and the unskilled drivers (auto) in another (the lower) .

I think most tracks go by speed not how fast you can play with your stick.

I remember when the autos were rare and troublesome. These have come a long way. I started with a manual in my cj, but it was a piece of crap. So I upgraded to a more reliable and better gear auto. A lot of the rock crawlers back then we're driving manuals, but switched to autos when they learned how much better and reliable and of course have a bombproof transfer case.
