I used Mobil 1 full synthetic in my LS1 WS6 and never had any issues, so to speak. I then seafoamed the car (had about 60k miles on it) and switched to Royal Purple...hands down a BETTER performing oil. Was a bit more pricey but so worth it. My lifter tick was gone when I switched to Royal Purple. I will more than likely use Royal Purple when I pick up my 1LE...hopefully sooner than later.

Walmart Super tech and a fram filter. Nothing but the best for my car.
But seriously, folks......Rotella T 10w30 NON synthetic. Its a good oil and works just right for my driving habits.

I've been chided on this group as to why I'm using a synthetic-blend. Even challenged over what the manual says.

Quaker State burned me in the early 90's twice. I have no desire to ever put that stuff in my cars again. But, good luck with it!

What happened? From the oil analyses I found online this stuff is equal to or better than most non-racing oils (additives, volatility, etc). Also, this is their newer synthetic. I'm not sure who owned them then, but I think shell owns them now. If I do a track day I would consider using Penzoil Ultra (slightly higher film strength and slightly lower volatility, extra boron wouldn't hurt either).

The engine in my Cutlass Supreme blew on the way to work one morning and was just cruising down the highway. My engine blew in my Honda Civic a year before and had to replace the entrire rotating assembly and rings. I was not even driving them hard. My dad used it in his and his cars leaked and did not run well. My friends scolded me and said to quit using it, so I switched to valvoline and then went to a synthetic blend, then full synthetic Mobile1 and have had no engine trouble in the past two decades. I use Rotella in my Camaro now, but I think most major, well known brands are good for the engines. Quaker State left a bad taste in my mouth and I didn't see them for a long time and thought they went happily bankrupt or something, but I see they are still here and I get the hibbie jibbies when I see a commercial. I looked and they are owned by Shell now and is sold under SOPUS Products.

I looked through some of the forums and was a little surprised to see a lot of members saying they like it and rank it rather well! But I still will never use it.

That sounds highly exaggerated, two engines blew and the car didn't run well?

I use Joe Gibbs LS30 , I am cammed and my tuner reccomended this oil. Car ran really well on every oil I've used. However long term reliability is a major concern for cammed cars.
