Nah, this is a totally mature discussion we're having here, I can't see it heading in that direction

My buddy had a 87 Buick GN. We whipped up on a Ford Torino a few times but we got smoked by a stock Chevy S-10 pick-up on the highway. We were doing roughly 60mph and the S-10 pulled up next to us and we gunned it and got smoked. Embarrassing. LOL.

I was just talking with an older guy I know yesterday that has owned a 65 Vette coupe since 72. It was originally a fuelie but was converted to a 427 in the 70s. He commented how his fastest time ever was 12:18 and how at the limit od safety the car feels. He's contemplating selling it for a new Z06 now.

I also built big cube cars in the past and low 13s were something. Now vintage Chevelle SS 396 owners are going to have to watch out for V6 LT Camaros

I've watched some vids you have posted....they didn't call them muscle cars..they were super cars "Rocketed to 60 MPH in 7 seconds" I had a laugh when the commentator said that.

I also get a laugh when people post that these cars aren't fast.

I used the term muscle cars because that is what we call them today, can you imagine if I had called them supercars??? I would get laughed off Camaro5.

I do this quite often!
In high school my friends brother had a Blue Superbird. Another friend had a Olds 442. Another had 70 Camaro which he stuffed a big block in it with side pipes. His brother had a 73 Olds Cutlass. My 3 brothers had a 65 Mustang which we took out the straight 6 and installed a 289 from a 66. 71 Olds Cutlass. My oldest brother had a 68 SS Camaro and he also raced his dragster. I had a 72 Chevelle which I pulled out the 307 and put in a 327 built for drag racing in it and drove it to school.
If we weren't milking cows and doing chores we were going to the local drag track or crusin town on Saturday night.
Miss those days but, thanks to GM, Ford and Dodge, those are back again!

Anyone who had a Yenko stripe kit knew the sYc was Yenko Super Cars. To call them anything less would disrespect what they were. The same went for Nickey, Berger, and the other classic car builds. Today, the same might apply. Look at how today's Nickey, Lingenfelter, Hennessey, and other beastly Camaros drive, handle, and empty your wallet.

I didn't know those old Motorweek retros were out there. I just watched the 82 Vette where they said "there is no want for power in the 82 Corvette"

I had several chevelles and a Camaro when I was younger. the 68 chevelle had a 327 and was pretty fast, my 73 chevelle with a 350 was pathetic my lawnmower could have beat that car.
my Dad had a friend who just bought a new 69 Roadrunner with a 440, and he took us for a ride and scared the hell out of us, that car was incredible, and really fast.!

As I heard someone say they had crap for tires, crap for suspension, and crap for brakes, but one hell of a motor! That is why they were scary back then...
For your enjoyment 69 1/2 Charger 500 HEMI AUTOMATIC!

^^^^^ charger 500 video was amusing. commentator states "Car did not have excessive body roll". Looked to me like the car was about to pull the tires right off the rims. "Panic stops from 65MPH took 178 feet"!

It's fuuny to look back to the good ole days and see how the definition of "performance" has evolved. As others have said, without understanding where we once were, we could not fully appreciate how fortunate we are to have the opportunity to drive/own these great cars of today.

Great thread..... Keep the stories coming.
