I put about 40 miles on mine today (picked it up at Noon) and it is averaging about 21 MPG on mixed driving. I got on it a couple of times and drove into town a couple times (about 8 mile trip one way). So I would say it was mostly highway miles. I was up to about 22.5 before I got on it the last time....
I did try to vary the speed I was driving and I had the air on...I did insist that the dealer filled the car up with premium and they did... So far so good....

I have been getting 14.5 MPG with the A/C and a little heavy foot action in combined driving.
I did get 22.5 MPG on the hwy at sunrise with no A/C at 70 MPH. I have 4000 miles on the car. 2SS/RS LS3.

I was getting 19.5 mpg according to the DIC for the first 800 miles. I was going on a long trip so I reset the average. When I got back I had 1600 miles on the car and the DIC said I averaged 23.5 mpg. The trip was a mixture of interstate (75 mph), highway (60 mph) , and some small town driving.

I got 21.9 mpg on my maiden voyage from the dealership home (150 miles). Mostly two lane through some small towns and some hard acceleration passing. Still getting 20 mpg with a stronger mix of city driving.
LS3 with less than 400 miles. It might be good to post what octane you are using and where the gas was from. Mine was 93 from Shell |

You know I don't even mind skip shift. I actually tend to do it on my own and now practice it in my Cobalt SS/SC. It does save fuel when used consistently.

I think I'm getting around 15 or 16 MPG and I was hoping for a little more, but not too concerned or surprised. Plus, I get on it whenever I can so I would probably do a lot better if I lifted my foot a little!
I have some big open roads coming out of my neighborhood and it's too tempting not to drive it. Also, this is not my daily driver and just a weekend fun car at least right now. |

I reset the DIC when going down the highway in 6th gear at about 55-60 and the DIC for a moment was saying I was getting over 40 MPG. (I think I was going down a hill, so not giving any gas)
But, after about a minute of that I switched back to fifth to "vary speeds constantly" for the break in.

17 MPG mix of both. I was in the low 15's till about 2000 miles. I found that lugging the engine below 2000 rpms gives you terrible mileage. Now I run a gear down between 2-3K unless I'm on the highway and it's made a difference.

It's been amazing in the last 20 years as Chevrolet has increased the V8 power, mileage has not dropped off. But in this body, there's just too much weight being pushed around. For me, 15mpg in the city is about the cutoff for acceptable. As for highway, i've had Camaro's before that were rated 25mpg on the highway, and i only got that at a steady 55mph. Between 60-80 they got 22-23mpg. I don't understand how they're getting away with 24mpg rating, if it won't do that. I thought they tightened standards a year ago, and were putting more realistic numbers on cars.

hey guys! why don't you calculate it manually instead of looking at that display in your dash. every time you press the go pedal it changes all the time..
i know in some big rig trucks they have the same display as soon as you hit the fuel pedal to the floor or lots of idle it drops to 2 or 3 mpg and when you hit the sweet spot at round 1200rpm we see 5 or sometimes 7 mpg.. it's all bs... please, just give it a try & you'll get better numbers do it like it has no computer to help you calculate.. fill the tank full.... [15 or 16 gallons of gasor more or less], then do all your things..then when it's time to fill it up. write down how many miles you did on that tank.. ex; 300miles on one tank full. so take 300 divided by 15=20mpg! as an example i converted our liters up here in canada to your u.s. gallon from my last fill up, in my 4th gen t/a--ls1,6speed-. i fill it up with 41lt for 440km of travel that's about 10.83gallons for 273 miles ...25.2mpg. give it a try....you'll have better results i'm shure. calculate from tank to tank... Thanks for reading my longest post ever! |

I am averaging 20.3 on a road trip to Santa Fe from Phx at about 80 mph avg.. City driving I am getting around 17.
I took that one guys advise on here and drove it like I stole it for the first 100 miles. Lot of full throttle blasts and wrapouts in all gears to load those rings |
