I would have to tell you to get the new Camaro, I have long been a Corvette/Camaro guy. First new car was a 75 Camaro when I was 22 years old. Through the years I've had many Chevys. I have a 66 Corvette Convertible fully restored, fabulous car if you only want to drive on Sundays, I wouldn't want to drive it daily, Now my 09 Z & New Camaro, now those are cars you can't drive enough. Save for the new one, you won't regret it, it's worth the wait.

I have both... with a 3rd gen to boot.

But if you ar elooking for a driver, 2010 all the way. Old cars are tempormental, they are hard to drive, they have few options, but man they look cool!

I have been back and forward on this also. Im going to end up with a 2011 cause of all the money it would cost me to fix up a 1st gen the way I want it.

I love the look of a 1969 Camaro SS/RS - or a 70 to 73 RS --

............but when you get behind the wheel, they are very primitive compared to the 4th gen -- and even moreso than the 5th gen.

What are your plans for the car? For driving to shows on weekends and sitting it in the garage? Or driving it more often.

1969 Camaros will always be collectible.....but the new Camaro can outperform the first gens on any measure -- and you can do that with the air conditioning on full-blast while listening to your favorite tunes on a Boston Accoustics Stereo.......and in comfort.

.......of course, some will say I'm prejudiced.............

Been there done that...... 1st Gens handle like crap compared to today's cars.... Also they are a constant project keeping them running good..... A lot easier to work on, but will keep you busy.....

IMO, go with the 5th Gen... However, are you planning to save the full amount of the purchase price and pay in cash? Due to your age, financing will be impossible unless your parents finance it for you.

Its probably not going to be a daily driver, but it will be enjoyed: by this i mean i would take it out on nice days, weekends, but its not something i will use to drive to school everyday.

LOL and 4th gen takes the lead in an incredible upset! The '96 Z28 vert was the first car (of any kind) to ever get my attention! Will always be a favorite!

Any engineer from the mid-late 1960's couldn't dream the possibilities of car design in 2009..... they were still using slide rules, chalk board, and even simple math on paper (unless GM had some version of the ENIAC in their headquarters at the time)

It's a safe bet a 2009 Kia handles better than 90% of ANY car engineered in the 1960s.
