A lot of Vert owners don't realize they are different.

LOL, that was dumb of me, you said Verte not Vette. Don't know what I was thinking, not even on topic.

right, I don't know who wrote the manual, but there is no need for 7 seconds of wait time. tap and go is all she needs.

Thanks for all the responses! I got lots more ideas than I thought I would. Some people mentioned the 7 second hold down: first tap on the button turns off the traction control, which turns on the light. Second tap turns off the stability control, which turns on the light. The dash now says competitive mode. Third push and hold turns off the traction control and stability control lights, which means the computer is back. But, continue to hold for 7 seconds both of the lights come back on. Is this what everyone is meaning by the 7 second hold? Our roads up North are textured for ice and snow, so I am thinking that is hindering my efforts at breaking loose. But, I agree it does seem to run better in colder temps. I am currently running Pirelli's. Does anyone know how often the car does a timing reset? Should I try a fuse pull? We drove 6000 miles this summer and ran into some questionable gas at times. Actually we ran into the gas station from hell, one pump, no labels, no blacktop, all dirt. Luckily, we have 92 octane here.

7 second hold is to turn off PTM which verts don't have. Timing will reset automatically, you can pull the fuse for a reset but not necessary.

My question is: is everybody else in the same boat? Want to burn rubber, thanks for any input.

I think your traction control must be on or something. You should be able to break loose even in 2nd fairly easy. Someone else mentioned completely shutting off traction control. Try that again.

You don't have PTM, but you do have control over the systems. You want to get into competitive mode. This will show TCS as off, and Stabilitrack as off (the lights), plus the DIC will indicate Competitive mode.
You now then have full power and launch control is available if you want it (but that is designed to minimize spin). Stabilitrack will kick in slightly according to the owners manual, if you get sideways, but, remember, it can't undo physics.
As for the original post, I get rubber in 3 gears with a CAI, 94 octane and the bypass valve adjustment. That really woke up my car.

Forgot to say, tap the Stabilitrack/TCS button twice to enter competitive mode.

"Does anyone know how often the car does a timing reset?"

According to Ted Jannetty, on another thread, he says the table resets to high with each fillup, so if true, you would never need to do a fuse pull. If you got sketchy gas somewhere, it should have reset with each new tank.
