Mine too, welds a d perfect, quality superior. Ceramic coating pure waste of money. But hey people love to waste money. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk |

I'm still trying to figure out why getting headers coated or wrapped is a pure waste of money.

Testing has been done with and without coating. No difference. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk |

Go fast, please.

It's not really for adding power as much as keeping heat out of the engine bay.

It's not suppose to add horsepower. It's sole purpose is to keep the heat in the headers and to create consistant power, instead of releasing it into your engine bay and creating heat soak.

I know what it's suppose to do! I just don't buy into that crap. Otherwise everyone would be getting ceramic coating if it was that necessary

The material used for the welds is important too. You can have stainless tubes and cheap material used for the welds and they will rust at the welds.
And my opinion is that ceramic coating is good for mild steel headers. But it is a waste on stainless steel T304 headers. The stainless steel keeps the heat inside the header much better than mild steel tubing. This helps two-fold. The stainless keeps the heat in which helps maintain velocity inside the tube as well as keeping under hood temps down.

Like I said on quality headers that are 304 stainless it's a waste of money. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk |

Excerpt from http://www.burnsstainless.com/stainlesssteel.aspx
You may have heard Smokey Yunick talk about maintaining high exhaust velocity and increase scavenging by covering headers with a thermal wrap. In addition, there are companies that coat headers with a thermal barrier, typically some type of ceramic formula, in order to keep the heat inside the exhaust system. Stainless steel performs this function without the need for add-ons because it has a much lower coefficient of thermal conductivity, thereby keeping more heat inside and transmitting it to the header outlet. Radiated heat is perhaps the most important reason to wrap or ceramic coat the headers to protect the car and the driver from excessive, fatiguing high temperatures. Typical 1010 carbon (mild) steel conducts 219% more heat per foot than do the types of stainless steel we use in header fabrication. By contrast, quite a bit more heat stays inside the stainless header tubes and does not get passed into the surrounding air. By not allowing the contraction of the cooling gases as they flow down the tubes, more exhaust velocity is retained which promotes better scavenging at the collector. This retention of velocity increases the overall header efficiency.

there is nothing wrong with them. If you get a set with bad welds you call the company and return them period.

Once you get a tune and have added cats, you might pass a visual inspection since there are no CELs but if the inspector wants to fail you they can since if they look it is easy to see you modified the cat placement. So then if your state allows private inspections and you have no CELs a "friendly" inspector can pass you. If you are in a state that will sniff a newer car and many do not, then most likely you will fail even if you have no CELs. |

Ran just about every brand. ARH only from now on. They are a step above the rest.
And coating does have some very real advantages. If you are going for added power, no, but it can help with heat, save starters, keep them looking good, and in general is cheap for what is does.
