Thanks. I have not tested for heat yet, but I will wrap wires in a heat protective material. Pics of mod detail to come.

Painting has begun
Ok after getting information overload and studying how everyone did a great job painting their engine cover I decided to begin also. But first I chickened out and decided to try my hand on painting the wiper fluid cover. Here are some pictures of the process of first priming the the cap since the color I wanted is not available in the plastic paint format.
I chose the alternative of pumpkin orange, which although worked well and looks nice, I will eventually change or order a custom match color scheme paint from the car. Here is what I can offer the group though. I found these awesome Sharpie oil-based paint sticks at my local Michael's craft store for $3.99 and then 40% off coupon. These come in various colors and then I used the white to outline the top of the cap again. Very very simple and worked nicely. So, overall great experience to prepare for the actual engine cover. Also like the idea you can use these Sharpie paint pens to add various touch up and detailing. I am thinking of doing the paint pen and a stencil for the "High Performance" label instead of stickers. Hope you all enjoy.

d69chris & SSE 4 2SS do you recommend any other tool we could use if we don't have access to a jigsaw or a router?

Do you have access to a Dremel tool? They are very easy to use and versatile too

No I don't. Don't really have much in terms of power tools other than a drill. All that stuff is at my parents house on the island. I'll have to borrow from someone lol.
Question for the guys that painted, how is it holding up now? I heard some of these paints don't last long and start chipping after a few months due to the heat.
