L99 has a huge resonator a muffler delete on it is not gonna do much. You don't know what drone is

If he is saying that j-pipes helped, I imagine they reduced drone. (I don't think they do anything else.) If they reduced drone, drone has to have been present.

Yep, on the highway, there was drone even with the resonator on. I heard it, had the headache to prove it too. 700 mile round trip to/from GPI proved it too. Once I put the J-Pipes on, I was able to adjust for it. They helped for sure. That's why I switched to the Magnaflows after a while -- too loud and @ some highway speeds you'd get the drone with the delete... And I still have the resonator on too with the new setup...

Did you have any other exhaust mods while you had Stainless Works muffler delete? What about Solo axle back with J-pipes, did you have any other exhaust mods with it?

I had Stainless Headers, HFC, stock resonator, stainless works muffler delete (axle back) before I added the solo j-pipes (they sold me just the j-pipes so i didn't have to buy the whole setup from them).

Then, after around 1500 miles, with the no j-pipe setup, I went ahead and added the j-pipes to help with the 65-75 mph drone I had -- below 65 and say around 80 and above, the drone tended to dissipate. Once I added the J-Pipes, I tailored the 'length' of the pipe for the RPM range I had for highway speeds -- I also had 3.91s too and it kicked up the RPMs from stock to around 2300 RPM @ 70 (stock was around 1900 to 2000).

There is a calc (somewhere) that will let you know what 'length' the tube should be around and what 'rpm' the drone tends to happen. Mine was around 2200-2500 RPM so I had to adjust based on that. Since my j-pipe tubes had about 2 to 3 " extra tubing, I could just tweak it where I would get little to no drone at the 'normal' highway rpm/speeds I drove...

Also, I do believe the factory 'spam can' mufflers have j-pipes or an open end to help with the 4 cyl mode -- saw them cut open...

Looks like those are the Stainless works muffler deletes with the adapters for the j-pipes welded to them.

Yep, exactly what I did -- welded them on to the SW delete... Probably would have been better off getting the Complete Solo's to begin with, but, live and learn...

The j-pipes are 'capped' @ the outer end and have 'adjustment' bands on both ends to allow tailoring the tube length -- great idea and setup from Solo...

I did it right the first time over 5 years ago. Solo J/Pipes with full unibody insulation.
No drone on my L99 SS and quiet as can be inside. Remember, these Camaros come
NO unibody insulation. Did from the seats back, Full floor, 1/4's, W/Hsgs, etc. Worth
every penny imo.

Yep, sorry about that. I did clarify it. The L99 and LS3 do have different stock mufflers, but the headers et.al didn't help on my L99 setup with the muffler delete. LS3 may be very different but I don't own one to know how headers impact them...

It took me a while to figure out that there is drone after I put the headers on because I am never in that RPM but before headers there isn't. I rarely hear the drone though
