My car does it but I don't like it. DiabloSport is working with me to minimize the pop. Have their first cut in the car now. Much better.

often upon closeing of the throttle plate there will be poping & backfires and if you have an open enough exhaust system (open headers)flames.
this is as many have stated normal .it is unburned fuel .its impossable to stop the fuel as fast as the t.p closes its very small amount or it would go on for a long long time....
on the motorcycles we tune the fuel injected bikes with a very rich 0%throttle postion.this some time helps .other bikes need a very lean 0%
throttle postion setting this helps them depends on the pipe and other mods.adding fuel we beleave stops the poping by being so rich its actually to cold to go off.it wont afffect idle as idle is set by the i.a.c idle air controller.
i like it my self and hope my 2011 llt will pop like crazy!!!!!

Let me see my to 4rth gen V6's did it My 4rth gen SS did it haven't done is it with my 2SS yet but it is totally normal. Backfires when idling or accelerating is not normal but down shifting or letting off the gas totally.

My Corvette is tuned perfectly and it makes the same sound....I love it!! Technically, when you're not on the gas...you're not adding any to the combustion chamber...so I don't think the sound you are hearing is costing you any money.

My only experience with the decel popping is on my Harley and I was always told this was not good. So, maybe it is not the same with a car engine. I am glad to know this is considered normal. Another advantage of a forum like this one.... I learn something new all the time! By the way... I think it sounds pretty cool as well, even more now that I know it's not wasting gas!

That's the sound of your car picking off Mustangs from the rear gunner position.

What causes this ? Is it normal ? Has anyone else noticed this ?

Thanks, Jim
Happens to me too. I am not sure, but I believe it is normal.
