Interestingly, I think I am going to lose out on this one (I'm still getting my z'er)... I just checked the GM website, and almost every car I found uses the "bar" style we see on the prototypes... so maybe GM is getting a bulk discount on these handles ?

What I would prefer is the style of handles like on the Grand Prix.
I understand what you mean about being flush, but I've seen enough of those types of handles snap off that I associate them with fragility. They also don't provide as much gripe if your door gets stuck shut (if it gets frozen, for example). I think well designed handles that stick out can still be sleek, and provide good grip and leverage for getting the door open. Of course Corvette handles are the ideal solution, but for now those are for the high end products.

I dunno, if it's on the liftgate of our Equinox, I don't really consider it all that 'high end'. Maybe the 6th Gen will have them...

We hear you.

Some thoughts:

Paint Scratching is a big issue.

Broken finger nails are another. (my last 'lessee' had fits when she'd break nails...)

Cost -- remember, we want the new Camaro to be very affordable. There are a myriad of items that we've looked at -- every one of them adds cost to the car -- meaning the MSRP creeps upward........so door handles like the Corvette were given up for other things that we think you'll want instead........

I KNEW IT! GM is getting a big volume discount on handles by each model using the same ones!

Well, I will say this, if it keeps the costs down for "other areas", I trust the team enough to make that call!

Now time for a new thread about "other areas"...
