Why is it that almost all the 5th gen T/A conversions are done up as later 2nd gen T/As while the 5th gen is clearly an homage to the 1st gen F-body.
Why aren't there more 1st gen inspired Firebird conversions?

I do like the Camaro though, I think it is a work of art. Both were very good in my opinion.

I agree with the comment that they should have made a GMC version and released it, but with Camaro sales so high it was better that they spent the money and R&D on new versions like the z/28 and ZL1.

Plus I'm a Corvette guy at heart.

Here's mine:
Loved this model trans am! HATED the same gen camaro.

The fourth gen Firebirds were great looking cars. I had a 2002 Black Firebird ragtop that gave me wood every time I looked at it and drove it.

I really do miss Pontiac....

I own two Pontiac Bonnevilles, you can't kill em.

No. Pontiac had no future with the new GM.

And this viewpoint is how you fail at being a successful automaker.

However, in the end Pontiac had a Nice Line-up. The GTO (actually looked like a big Cobalt) was a Great Car. The G-8 I think was a fantastic looking sedan and with the Ls Motor was a screamer. The New Chevy SS is basically an upgraded G-8. Pontiac even had the Holden Ute slated to be in the lineup. Then they had the Solstice ( even made a Hardtop Version).

When the economy took a crap, something had to give. GM had already killed off Oldsmobile so Pontiac, Hummer, Saab and Saturn got the Axe. Should have been GMC in my opinion!
Negative. GMC = money printing machine for GM. Plus it actually has an overseas market unlike Pontiac.

Either Pontiac or Chevy had to go, and it wasn't going to be Chevy. Buick or Olds, the same..etc.. Never understood why GM sold competing products.

Why they have GMC compete with Chevy is still a mystery. There is so much money made on trucks that they can get away with it. I want a new Silverado but I just can't justify the price.
You answered your own question.

Here is a car I saw at the last car show I attended. A lot of people looked at it and it sounded great. The last Pontiac that I owned was a '74 Trans Am, had some mods, that car was a blast to drive!
Cadillac literally has only one model that is remotely similar to any GMC product, and that's Escalade. And that may be changing in the future with the crossover-heavy focus Cadillac's gearing up for.

G6 was popular artificially, especially towards the end of its model run. GM dumped a ton of them into fleet, it was basically the W-body Impala Limited of its era.

Okay.. for what it's worth...as for the f-body, had GM made one like the lingenfelter, I'd be all over it. As an owner (NEW) of a 4th and a 5th Gen (used) 2nd genf body, the firebirds/ Trans ams, were over priced. When I bought my 99 Z28, the same Trans Am was +$1,000. Similar to the other poster... GMC truck or Chevy.....same, but guess which one costs more. Also, marketing (specifically the lack of) killed the 4th Gen f bodies, as well as the rest of Pontiac. Think about it... when was the last time you saw an advert for anything GM other than a truck or a Vette?

First gens and the 1970 Z/28 are the only years that I liked the Camaro version better.

Without the Trans Am it would have been smokey and this guy.
