Sorry for the delay... family emergency when I got home... 6 hours in the ER...

Ok... so the home made intake tube was a FAILURE! The the home intake tube was neck and neck with the stock intake until about 5800 RPM... then home make tube actually MADE LESS POWER! OOPS! The 90 degree turn is going to be the culprit..... if you look at the stock tube it has a nice sweeping turn...

I will get dyno sheets up as soon as I can...

So I give this experiment a thumbs DOWN!

The IAT experiments however did show some promise....

I did some research today after running around to pep boys, o'reillys and autozone without any luck finding the rubber piece that connects the Spectre custom intake to the stock air filter housing. From what I can see you also need Spectre part # 9541, which is a 3 1/2" to 3" coupler reducer with clamps. I can't find the part locally so I will probably order online. I will try to find time tomorrow to do the IAT temp switch relocation.

Hmmm... the 3 1/2 to 3 for the tube to air box?

Ok.. based on the dyno today I have to say I would not do this mod... but based on the dyno I would definitely do the IAT mod...

Hope your family is ok now. Is your next move going to be modify the existing air tube? I'd be curious to see how you would patch the hole, thats my only hold back on that move. I know I could seal it but I'd like a patch thats not as ugly as anything I can come up with at the moment.

Yeah, my first thought was to modify the stock tube... but like you said, i'm not sure how to make it look nice... and of course I think i could run into problems if say I really mess it up and I need to buy a new one... wonder how long the wait from GM would be to get a replacement! LOL

For what it's worth it looks great, I hate that ugly appendage too. too bad it didn't performed as good as it looks.
