I actually thought it was more once the power filtered through the transmission.

Honestly if your going to be sitting in stop and go traffic for the majority of your driving expierance I wouldn't even think about getting a camaro as a DD, auto or manual tranny. I don't care who you are, that type of atmosphere eats up more gas then what the car is worth IMO (Or maybe I just have recession on the brain)
If thats not the case, I'd go with the auto if you don't have much expieriance driving stick. The embarassment of stalling a camaro at a light would be to much for me to bear with. Personally I'd go with the stick, not sure where this 'cool' factor comes into play though. I'm a young guy, and from the midwest. I've been driving stick since my dad started letting me drive the o'le John Deer lawnmower. Its what I grew up with and its what is comfortable for me...Also keeps my hands off my cell phone. I'd hate to become a statistic. :/ |

The difference in the engine using the active fuel management is a different story. You really do lose that horsepower due to the slightly smaller cam. |

I would rather drive with a manual than ride with an auto. It's great to be in more control of the car with a manual. Go ask a friend to teach you to drive manual, you will learn and soon find out if you like it.

Manual hands down, after a while you get use to it and the longer you have one the more natural it is. With me now its like blinking, i don't think about blinking I just do it, i don't think about shifting I just do it. The auto guys will debate the tapshift is just as fun, its not i assure you. There will always be a debate, I say unless your learning in or going to be driving in bumper to bumper traffic on a daily basis get the manual. Everytime I get in an auto my foot trys to push the clutch and auto's are just plain boring to drive.
Whoever mentioned horsepoer loss was right, it does start out with 26 less andd there is a slightly higher percentage loss form engine to hweels for auto compared to maual, I don't know specifics but maybe 20% for aautos and 15% for mauls thats a rough estimate. Not to mention the auto costs more and you get less, AWESOME NOT!

I'm still on the fence with this one.
Always drove a manual when I was younger and never wanted an automatic. Living in Northern Va destroyed those thoughts and I've had an auto for years. I kinda want a manual again, but I DO want remote start. Looking at a 2LT RS for a daily driver, and it would be nice to have the car warm and waiting when I step outside to go to work at 6am. |

My first car was an auto; my next three cars were stick; my current car and my camaro are autos. I got very sick of all the stop and go traffic and having to deal with a manual and switched back to auto. If it is your daily driver and you have to deal with traffic go with the auto.

I learned to drive in my dads ugly ass red mini which was a stick. My first car, a Acura RSX type S was a stick. Every car I plan on buying from here on out will probably be a stick as well.
It took me about a year to totally be comfortable driving it, but once I did it was like driving an automatic. People say that stop and go traffic with manuals is a nightmare, or that it would be a lot easier to just have an automatic for that. Living in a state with absolutely awful traffic, I can assure you its not as bad as everyone makes it sound. At the end of the day its just what YOU want. Personally I bought the car to drive, and to have fun while driving. I have fun driving a stick. That being said, I'll never be a fan of the paddle shifters in automatics. Having driven a 2008 335i with them, and a buddies 2010 camaro SS with them they just dont feel half as satisfying as downshifting into third to blow by some guy who wont let you into his lane.

Well I usually drive bout 50 miles a day back and forth from school and golf practice so from what yal are saying I'm kind of leaning towards the stick, one other thing is the LS3 the same engine as in the corvette if it is why 4 less HP
