That exact setup as a matter of fact! That's also what Fishinfirefighter is running/going to run I believe and he said he'll get a clip up sometime this week.

P.S. Easiest to read smoke signals I've ever read.

I'll see what I can work up tomorrow. Don't want to piss of the neighborhood at 2100 hours.

Open headers. Recorded by my wife's iPhone thus the crappy muted sound. It was loud enough to shake a picture down on the other side of the wall.

okay....Theyre in!
Royal PAIN IN THE ASS doing it by myself on jack stands but WELL worth it. No surprises really aside from the dip stick tube at the end, probably took me 30min to find where it came from and where it goes back in so pay attention when you remove yours guys lol. My forearms look like I got in a fight with a 300lb chunk of barbed wire from wedging my hands between the various wire looms and other crap in the way.
The sound....I was a fan, even though not many are, of the stock NON catted setup. I liked the rasp and it was loud and mean. These headers muffle what most people think is annoying which is the rasp at 2000-2300rpm. It makes the sound MUCH more "muscle car". While muffling that rasp what I WASNT expecting was somehow they manage to make the exhaust sound LOUDER at WOT. Honestly I couldnt even ask for a more badass sounding exhaust PERIOD. Im sure its the same sound most of the longtube brands produce and it is Bad Ass!! Im Super happy!!! No fitment issues at all with these headers.
Ill have to get my wife record a video tomorrow when its daylight for you guys. Im impressed, VERY impressed for the cost. I cant imagine spending 3-5x the amount for essentially the same thing. Put that savings into some other parts and get these. I was able to buy the BMR Ice box, an oil catch can AND getting a retune with the money I saved here.

Oh...Just to add here another benefit. I lost about a pound of boost after the install. I have a 2.4 upper which is supposed to be around 15#. The cat deletes dropped me to low 13 and now after these I was only able to peak a smidge above 12#s on a hard 3rd gear pull. Looks like a lower is in my near future.

That pretty much sums it up.

Can't argue with the money - even though I went a different direction from my sig.

Guys - please take the face value for what it is. These are good headers. Don't knock just because they are not as expensive as others.

If money was no object - we'd ALL have Kooks, no questions asked.

So let's not flame for the brand name and be happy for a brother that is happy

FishinFirefighter:

We would love to see the dyno tune after - guessing the drop in boost is from the improved reduction in back pressure. Bet your hp doesn't suffer and less boost with same power = increased reliability

Congrats!!

Will do. I was 577 prior to the headers on a 103 degree day with 50% humidity so even without the headers im sure my dyno numbers will be better now that its a little cooler lol. Im more than likely going to install an 8.66 or 9.1 lower before I go for the tune to make it worth it so the header gains wont be as easy to distinguish unfortunately. But yes, like you said even with the lower boost long tubes should up the power and do it much more reliably than increasing boost.

Question for those running headers and off road pipes, I added the mild to wild because with the fuse pull my wife thought it had a bit much drone at highway speed. How much drone will I have at highway speed with headers and off road mids through stock mufflers?

So I'm using Tapatalk and didn't realize I was in the ZL1 section. I'm just an LS3 but will post a video of my set up if anyone is still interested

Fishing firefighter,

I plan on ordering these and installing them myself as well so thanks for the dipstick info. Any other tips and tricks to make this easier? Spark plugs and wires should be removed I heard.
Thanks in advance

Cold start up to idle

Sorry I am on my wife's mac and can't figure this stupid thing out if someone wants to properly embed those videos, or just follow the links. Again not a ZL1 (my bad) but still an LS3 with SE long tubes, catless midpipes, to fused pulled NPP cat back.

Spark plugs are optional to remove. If you are doing it alone you should remove them, otherwise with an extra set of hands you can be very careful when working near them not to hit them. Same thing goes for the steering shaft. It is optional.
