No stone throwing here, the whole point is that if these other premium headers make a significant amout of power more than the cheapo Speed Engineering headers, then yeah, maybe they would be worth the extra coin. The fact is that they are gonna be within 3-6rwhp, well within the margin of error. If I can find a similarly built product that fits as good, is made of similar materials for less than half or a 3rd of the top dog headers, of course I'm gonna give them a shot. For $355 delivered to your door, there is NO better header you can buy for the money than Speed Engineering headers. TSP is a close 2nd place followed by Stainless Power, which also are made overseas, but cost twice as much. Everyone knows you guys, as well as lots of other vendors sell top shelf products, no denying this. Speed Engineering sells warehouse direct, cutting the middle man out. Sucks for vendors for sure, but helps the consumer out. If they were junk in any way, shape or form, I'd tell people to avoid them like the plague.

I currently have speed engineering 1 7/8 headers with their off-road mid-pipes. Headers look great and installed easily. I went from pulling into the garage to install of headers done in less than 2 hours.........then came the mid-pipes. They didn't want to slide over the collector, the included clamps are crap at best, ended up re-using the stock rear clamps. The front clamps are too small and once tightened caused a buckle in the midpipe and thus a leak. I have tried to tweak it but no luck as of yet. I would find better clamps or take it to an exhaust shop friend, but I have decided to go with a completely different brand instead. For the grand total of $250 they are wonderful and could be made to work for not much more money. If your on a tight budget go for them. They sound great and with the exception of the mid-pipes (and maybe I got a bad set) were a super easy install.

The part where they meet up to the oem pipes is supposed to be a butt joint, just like the oem setup. The slip fit is on the header side itself. I had no issues with the mid-pipes or anything. Sucks to hear, but it happens to everything mass produced. Just the law of probability there........

Thanks again everyone. A lot of very good suggestions. No Doug Thorley or Pypes users?

Yeah I know it's a butt connection, but the included clamps would not fit over the pipe so ended up using the stock ones, would have probably used them anyway. And yeah it's law of probability, like I said the only problems I have had are very easily remedied if I wanted to. But my plan the entire time was to use these to see if I liked the sound of long tubes over stock. A do so they are coming off and being replaced so no point in wasting time and money to fix the minor problems. Just figured I would throw my .02 in.

Yeah I didn't use the included clamps on that connection either. The OEM are much better.

I went speed engineering because I'm on a budget it and it fit in that budget. Not sure what american made means anymore on a car built in canada with parts from across the globe. There are good and bad workers everywhere, country of origin means nothing in today's world.

Speed Engineering here

$350 shipped with extra clamps, O2 extensions, offroad connectors, and 1 7/8 longtubes.

Really best bang for your buck, mine clears the steering column with the rubber boot on and sounds incredible

Is the gas fume smell really bad if you go with off road pipes vs HF cats? Also how would they meet up with my current Corsa cat-back?

It's definitely noticeable for sure.

Bad? That's subjective, to me it's a nice smell.

I have high flow cats, there's almost no smell, but my buddy has no cats (off road) and yeah the smell is definitely there lol.

The smell is there with off road pipes but unless you go stick your face right in the pipe and take a breath it isn't bad. I drive fairly aggressive and park in my garage. When I get home at night and out the door down I barely smell anything.

Haven't bought 'em yet, but these forums have convinced me to get the Speed Engineering headers.

You can definitely smell it but it's not as bad as an old V8 American barge

Can't smell it in the cabin either which is nice
