1 Year already .... well, actually it was the 16th for us Canucks

I remember walking into the dealer, with my Visa in hand, saying" I want to put my order in for the new Camaro"..... The dealer is like " What are you talking about ? " ...... I'm like " Check this page in your system, and place my order"..... He checks, and is amazed that the order went in.... We discussed all the things I wanted in the car, and then gave him my credit card for the deposit...... We shook hands, and then he turns to me and says " that was the fastest Camaro I ever sold ( no pun intended ) ".....

I remember reading this site and following it starting in summer of 2008. I wasn't able to order one right away but I was following this site like a TV drama show. Finally in April of this year the personal life issues I had resolved and in May I joined C5 and placed my order. Following that order became a way of life it seemed; reading the updates from Viz, reading everything everyone was posting as the first cars started to get in people's hands.

For months I hadn't even seen one; was going by the pictures I saw on the forum to get an idea of how they looked.

There was so much activity on the forum then; so much emotion, drama, excitement. I really enjoyed that part I have to admit. Poor Fbodfather having to quash the "crisis of the day" lol.

At the time it seemed like it was taking forever then I got a VIN and everything went into surreal mode. Getting all the financials in order, contacting my insurance company, getting ready. I was checking the UPRR tracking system every day to see where it was... in Nebraska... in New Mexico... in Arizona... then finally it was about 15 miles away at it's final rail destination. That was Saturday, August 15th. On Monday the 17th I got the call and went down to pick her up. It was exciting, surreal, unreal, very real, all at the same time. I hadn't even been in one, much less driven one.

Took her home, hand washed her like she was worth a million bucks. Clay barred the surface, clean, shined, detailed her (I didn't want the dealership doing that). And I just stood there when I was done, soaking in the sight of that deep, beautiful, rich Imperial Blue Metallic color.

I've never had a car affect me quite like this one; it's become like a good friend; more than just a car.

Thank you Chevrolet, GM, Scott Settlemire and all the Camaro team, the great folks in Oshawa who make these wonderful cars, and ALL the people on Camaro5 who've collectively made this whole experience such a wonderful and fun year! And I LOVE my Camaro!!!

I remember that day and like a kid in a candy store I just had to have one. We waited for the Summit white to be available and I ordered my 2SS, Summit white with black rally stripes and sunroof on July 27th and she was in my posession on Sept. 8th 2009. We own a house in Galveston Texas and driving it up and down the seawall is an experience because everyone breaks their neck looking at it. I've had people getting their picture taken next to it and bikers giving me the thumbs up as I drive by. I am in love with her.

STOOD UP BY DEALERSHIP

Dealership told me my 2SS/RS would be in the week of October 9 ( Columbus Day weekend ) and dealership took delivery of a 2SS/RSS on Thursday October 8. My question was....where is mine????? Why would it not have been shipped along with this one? Anyway with each passing day I have been a thorn in the side of my salesman stopping by for the past several days asking where is my car???? I never figutred out how to track my camaro and the last I learned from GM Customer Service was that I had a production date of 09/27/09. After looking over everyone else's quotes, it looks like two weeks from 3800 to 5000. Tired of waiting!!!!!!!!! Why is it that customers orders don't take precedence over dealerships inventory??????? Again....tired of waiting. Maybe I'll just get it fitted for snow tires and put a carrot in its nose in place of the bowtie so I can enjoy it before spring time!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's been a great journey. I've been watching the progress since 06 when they first announced that they were going to start planning the return of the Camaro. When they said Oct 08 we could start ordering I said to the wife, "Can I"?. OK I guess. Went to the dealer and they didn't have a clue on what to do. They said, "wait until we get information on it and then we can do the order. It wasn't until Jan 09 before they had information on the car and knew how to order it. By that time I had all the information from Camaro5 and 5th Gen. They kept telling me "where did you find all this information. Just go on the internet and you'll find everything you need. I had all the options checked on my computer printed order book. So on Jan 19th I placed my deposit on my order. I kept up with all the chatter on Camaro5 for months. It wasn't until March that I decided to change my order to add the RS package. Glad I did that. The dealer got so tired of me showing up everyday to check on my order. I only live 1/2 mile from the dealer. Then on Jun 6th it came to life. Jun 26th it was delivered to the dealer. A mechanic stayed overtime and prepped the car. It was a high when I was able to drive it off the lot. It was also cruise night with our local car club and everyone was shocked when we drove up. Since that time it's been such a great ride. The car is such a magnet when you go places. It's now winter time (almost) and time to put her away. Sleep tight my hero. See you in the spring.
