Well, I may have unknowingly bought WAY more car than I intended to. I have a friend that has HP tuners, I'm going to ask him to take a look and see what he can find about the tune. I'm thinking I might have to find a chassis dyno too, so I can get concrete confirmation of what we're dealing with. It just seems crazy that a guy would spend that much money on mods in just a couple years and then trade it in.

Just a thought, but have you asked the dealership for the history on the car? Was it a trade in? Maybe they can put you in touch with the previous owner. (edit: Saw you are doing that already.)

Secondly, maybe the previous owner was on Camaro5? Look at the ZL1 registry here in the forum. Do some searching around and you might come up with some answers.

Lastly, I modded my previous ZL1 and sold it 5 months later to buy a Z/28. I don't think it's at all unusual for the previous owner of your car to do that as well. But that's just my .02.

Sounds like a great car. The ZL1 is properly awakened with exactly what mods you have...and a good tune. That thing should run like a scalded ape!

Yep, I talked to my salesman today, he's going to pass my contact info on to the PO so hopefully he'll contact me. The car does run well, it's hard to not make up reasons to drive it!

Good luck with ur new ride it certainly sounds like a great car.
Fuel booster? Is this a fuel regulator or an electronic piece? I'm not familiar with this part... google here I come.

**** I read up on the Boost-A-Pump (BAP) unit and I don't see one installed in our car. Thanks for the heads up though, may have to do something in the future depending on what the PO says if I'm able to talk with him. ****

I've been reading a lot of threads about cars with mods similar to mine, as well as threads from the tuners who populate the site. After evaluating my research I've decided to go with Ted Jannetty. I talked with him this morning explaining that we ended up with more car than we thought we were buying do to the modifications I failed to notice when we bought it. I explained that we just wanted to ensure the engine and trans tune was safe and to improve the drivability a bit. He was really receptive to my input and made his recommendation based on our wants/needs and not just making all the horsepower possible. I should receive a tuner and a set of injectors by the end of the week. His experience was such that he is adamant about swapping injectors to 850s. That will start the process with him and I am hopeful we can have it sorted and ready for some dyno time, as I have an opportunity to get some time on a local dyno next Friday. The one thing I forgot to order was the oil catch can, maybe I can email them and have it added to my shipment in the morning. Anyway, thanks to those of you who have written up great threads and those that have provided comments here. Hopefully my experience can help someone too.

Again Buck, good luck. You made a good choice and won't be disappointed. I promise. I drive 3 1/2 to 4 hrs each way for Ted and his crew to work on my car. I'm a pretty anal guy about my personal property. Tell Ted I said hello

The injectors swap is complete and the Jannetty tune has been uploaded. The drive-ability is much better, especially the transmission characteristics. Data logging was an experience the first time, the first data-log has been sent and I'm waiting to see if he sends any changes. I want to get it on a dyno soon just to see what the numbers are but I'm thinking he may want some wide band info anyway, that's my justification anyway.

Update:
At this point I'd like to stab myself in the neck for buying this car. If my wife didn't love it so much I'd trade it for a stock 2017 2SS convertible... in Garnet Red Tintcoat with low gloss 5-split spoke wheels. Yes, I've thought about it that much. After swapping the injectors, installing an ugly ass AFR gauge, and loading a tune and 6 tune updates... the fuel pump is weak. Waiting on approval from the GM tech rep to have it changed under warranty, should know later today. When that is fixed then we can hopefully finish the tune. I wish I had bought one that was still stock...

sorry to hear that... not everyone likes big power cars.

I don't get the mail order tune. You could have just taken the car to dyno shop and had it tuned without all the hassle. I will never do a mail in tune.
