I've been building up my ZL1 now for a couple years and always trying to keep to a budget so I feel your pain and it's always hard to decide which route to go. I would personally go with kooks over some of the others because they run slightly less to save you some money. Or look into Texas speed, they are a good reputable local company making quality parts and offer the same quality headers as Kooks and American Racing but for a much cheaper price. If you're looking for consistent power I would go more towards a cam and headers. If you're going to do pulleys as well definitely go with an aftermarket heat exchanger as well. These superchargers definitely don't like this Texas heat especially when you start cranking up the SC rpms. 600rwhp on 5k budget isn't impossible but it can be challenging. Mine put down 525 rwhp with just a Rotofab CAI . I jumped to 677 rwhp after that with a Cam, headers, upper and lower pulley, heat exchanger, injectors, and a boost a pump. I think I was well over 5k with those mods tho. Then I jumped to 712 with a E85 conversion. About to get a TB and port the supercharger and see where she sits in a couple weeks.

Awesome info. I really appreciate it. Definitely thinking about going with ARH and CAI at first. I just love the sound of these cars once you open them up. Then I'll probably wait awhile and end up going full on. I'm just worried about dependability once you open up the motor for a cam. I kind of want this car around for awhile and would rather not have to keep dumping large amounts of cash into it after I've grabbed some extra hp.

Yea I've cracked two pistons within a year with my old setup. Had to go E85 for its cooling properties and car has been good since and I beat the crap out of it lol.

That's intense haha Yeah I'll probably keep mine relatively mild compared to that, but I can't leave her stock. I'm sure I can tip 600rwhp without having too many problems. Might be a little more than 5k, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

You'll get much more bang for your bucks with a stage 1 kit...If you want it louder just pull the fuse to leave the stock cutouts open...I love to hear the supercharger whine with the pulley swap and CAI -vs- a loud exhaust that ain't pushing up the rwhp...The headers that you're considering are close to half the price of a stage 1 kit...You'll be still at the light making noise and that stage 1 kit will be pulling you...
