I have a 2011 SS LS3...just did a resonator & muffler delete 2 days ago. It sounds absolutely amazing. I'd be lying if I didn't say I was more impressed than I thought I would be. It's not too loud and there really isn't much drone. I will note that there does seem to be a power/torque loss though...anywhere between 2-2.5k and 3k. But after about 3500rpm it still seems very fast.

Sounds like you have the same set up I have. The Magnaflow muffler is what folks here refer to as a resonated x-pipe, which is a fancy term for "muffler with an x-pipe in it". The purpose/effect of this is to eliminate drone and resonance in the cabin.

At first, I thought the same thing, it doesn't sound any different, but it is. Stand outside the car and have someone rev it a few times. It also seemed to me that after some time, it opened up a bit. Had it at the dealer today, and the porter gave it a couple of easy revs, yes, there's a difference for sure.

I went with this because I had the same set up on a '96 Vette. I'm conviced it's the way to go unless you are looking for that raspy wake the dead sound...not that that is a bad thing, just not my thing.

Well you are going to need a tune for the long tubes anyway (To disable rear O2s), so I would wait it out.

Just understand that with gutted cats, muffler delete, and longtubes...it is going to be incredibly loud. I did the exact same thing. I rode around with it like that for a few weeks, as under load it sounded freaking amazing. Like Nascar amazing, but it wore me down and was a bit too raspy for my tastes.

A lot of people install mufflers again at this point, but some love it like that.

Probably not, as long as the rear o2s are turned off you should be fine.
