I think they are going for ~$300 to $350 now.

I replaced my door speakers with ROCKFORD Fosgate and am very pleased. Crutchfield price matched and were very helpful. Didn't feel like tearing out the whole back of the car to replace rears so I went with the ROCKFORD Fosgate p300 powered sub instead. Great setup for little $$$.

OP, second time wil be a charm. I have and always will be an audiophile. Every system has its own characteristics. ...good and bad. I also like the factory BA system for what it is. I added a simple 10" ******** sub w/300 w amp. Got the whole thing used $300. It was just the simple low power non overkill addition that makes the system.
I have found, with most things, people tend to go overboard with huge speakers and pretty (allegedly) super high powered amps that have pretty lights. You either end uo with most of the music being distorted and blowing by you....or you are just entertaing (or not) anyone within 200' of your car. I like to keep it simple, efficient and clear to my ears. So, understanding you just want to hear your music without unwanted noises....if you choose to stup up a little bit...look for a low power sub amp and a simpl 10" speaker that fits snugly in the left or right corner of the trunk.....it takes little space and really improves the sound. Sorry for the long winded post...sometimes I ramble. Just like to inform folks you dont have to break the bank to have a nice sounding system. Good luck.

I tried everything to get those factory speakers to sound better, but they just can't produce crystal clean highs and even the mids are muddy no matter what amp or settings I use. I got tired of it all and replaced everything. Now it sounds GREAT! The head unit sounds terrible and my USB randomly stops working. Replaced head unit. Not a clean output to the amps from the factory deck. I added Infinity kappas in the front door and the best upgrade were possibly just the tweeters. I just put some reasonably priced Infinity REF-275tx with bass blockers and that made a gigantic improvement for the highs. They are 3 Ohm tweets, so wont burn up the factory amp. I kept the rear speakers, but they suck, even with a nice amp. I put 2 12's in the back, rear-firing and they sound amazing with the other upgrades. I can still get my golf clubs in the trunk with ease. The box fits under the 6x9 opening against the rear seats. It took 3 days to replace everything except rear 6X9's, but those will go too. Added a Pioneer 8200NEX and now have Android Auto, which rocks!! I added 3 amps: 1 to subs 1000W; 1 to front speakers, no mid dash 600W, and one to rear 6X9's 600W with the output at 1/8 up so I don't hear them over my new front speakers. Now have GPS, Android auto, great sound, voice controlled everything. It is well worth the effort IMHO. The easiest thing to upgrade IMHO would be tweets and front door speakers and add at least a small sub. It is really easy running wires, but very little room behind the deck to get the wires tucked in. I didn't have to cut a single factory wire for this, so It is reversible to stock too. Go for it!
