It's not a knock on our cars. In general most people won't consider any newer car a "classic". To us it may be the case where we feel it's an instant classic as soon as it came out, but as I said it's not a genuine classic to most. Last edited by zr1chris; 07-19-2017 at 09:18 PM. |

having restored and owned a couple of classics,no,the gen 5 is not old enough to be one yet.while they are an interesting car and should be allowed to enter car shows, they should have separate classes if competing for trophies.nobody wants to rebuild engines, weld in new panels, repaint and reupholster only to be beaten by a factory fresh camaro, even if its a 2017 ZL-1.

No one can predict whether a car will be a classic or not, but I'd be willing to bet any matching numbers SS in good condition(non restored) will be worth something
5th gen has the best chance since the 2nd gen for collectability IMO just because it's the first year back with a classic look. That said I didn't buy mine to sit on it for 30 years hoping it'd be worth something

By definition, "classic cars" are just that... classic. Ours are not classic cars even if they are classic-inspired cars. Scott

I have always looked at muscle cars in a different light. I still have my 78 Trans Am (not a classic), my brother and I co-own a 68 convertible corvette and I had a 68 SS Camaro that was given to my from my father (don't have...long story...want to cry now). I got my 2015 Camaro as a birthday present from my wife. I enjoy seeing any and I repeat any car that the owner has made his passion and enjoys showing it. My brother has a 1970 MG Midget that is he is the original owner and it is a dream to look at. My lawnmower probably has more horses than it but he gets a crowd everywhere he takes it. Passion makes a car special not some stuffy jerk who claims he "knows cars" Just my two cents.

One of the shows I do every year is a large, local charity show. There's another smaller local show that must be using the list of the show I attend every year. Every year, since 2012, the organizers of this smaller show send me a fancy invitation, followed by a call. Every year they don't accept me because neither of my cars are at least 25 years old.
This year I couldn't be polite anymore, told the moron, the same moron that has called and then uninvited me for 5 years, to stop raising funds for their current charity and start raising funds for alzheimer's and dementia. I told him that would would benefit him tremendously. We'll see if I get an invitation again next year.

I enjoy going to car shows in my Gen 5 to see the true classic cars, I never enter. However, many people ask about my car as they see and hear the mods.
