No, they wont. The SS already is an RS. It's kinda confusing, but the Camaro SS has the same package as the Camaro RS, but in order to get a Camaro RS, it has to be a V6. The "V8 RS" is the Camaro SS. Get it? And since we're already talking about this, I think i'll get a V6 Camaro for a couple of reasons.

1. The missing hoodscoop is growing on me.

2. Feul economy is a big part (is the V6 or V8 going to get better?)

3. The Camaro RS has the rear decklid spoiler, and the Camaro SS doesn't

4. I don't really like Camaro SS's for some reason. I don't know why, it's just the sound of it.

For me, ultimately it is going to be price. I need to see what a V8 will cost me with the RS package and leather...and maybe upgraded stereo but I can easily toss that one out. Price price price

So....undecided till pricing. However I will say that I never considered the V6...but after seeing pics and specs...I am now considering it.

Having owned a 98 with V6 and being very, very happy with it, I would definitely get a V6 if I cannot afford the V8 and options I want.

Insurance - not an issue for either one, I'm 41 with a clean record......now . My last speeding ticket, 97 in a 70, was in the 98 Camaro.

Fuel economy - not an issue. Both will get decent MPG considering the type of car it is. Think of it as an amusment park ride - the rides that are the most fun cost a little more in some way, be it longer lines, a higher priced ticket, or more gas money. Yeah, I could get 40+ mpg in a Prius, but how much fun is that gonna be????

V8 or nothing. I've mulled over in my mind whether I would make the financially expedient decision to get a V6, but for the past 20 years all I've ever wanted was a NEW V8 Camaro SS (I'm 25). Now I have the opportunity to make that dream come true and I've resigned not to let a few thousand dollars get between me and that dream now matter how great the V6 performs. I'm bittersweet about the SS not being the top dog; the SS badge on a Camaro is my baby. But at the same time I REALLY don't need 500+ hp (400+ is pushing it) and I can't imagine paying $40k+ for a Camaro that wasn't built in the 60's.

I'm set on a fully loaded SS "minimum". Who know's if there will be a Z28 or not, but hopefully that will be cleared up tomorrow...

After dealing with the regret of not getting a V8 charger there is no way I am getting a V6, no way. I know it will perform good and sound good for a V6 but a V8 is a V8. I dont want just enough performance, I want the V8 sound and the performance to back it.

The fuel econemy doesn't differ between the RS and SS enough for me to change my mind. Although some of my buddies are considering the RS.
