This should be easy to get at from the inside, just use a short piece of a 2x4 and a ball pean hammer.Save yourself some money!

I've used the same PDR guy for the past 12 years...an experienced one will be able to get that out in about 15 minutes...and it will look better than new. Heck of a lot cheaper than bodywork and re-paint (and then having to deal with the issue of the paint not matching, etc.)...Call the dealers and find out who they use...you'll find them working out the dents on used and new cars on the lots.

^ I've seen it in person. This is not a 15 minute dent. But there's a chance it can be repaired....

Smile

I put my absolute best foot forward in repairing this dent today. While It did not come out 100%, it is very very close. There were a couple of (minor) problems encountered today when I got a chance to see it in broad daylight for the 1st time. First the body line was hit harder than I initially realized, it was actually inverted from the hit it took, second the wood that hit it scored the paint which always provides an opportunity for the paint to crack as the crack will often follow the lines or scoring that are embedded in the paint, and 3rd the wood grazed the clear coat off the car. While the paint wasn't damaged all the way down to the metal like you would see when the paint gets chipped, there was some definite discoloration that became more evident as the fender was repaired and the light began to hit it better.

Anyways here is the repair process from start to finish...

When dents show up in pictures from this distance, you know they are pretty substantial.

Closer view showing body line completely flattened out with the metal bulging at both ends of the dent (we call these "smiles" or "eyebrows")

I decided immediately after seeing the dent the other night that going through the front of the fender would give me the best leverage. Takes a little longer, but is the right way to do it. Here is the front end disassembled.

I utilized two different methods including both the glue pulling device along with conventional PDR tools. Here are a couple shots of the glue tab and puller.

Here are some shots after finishing and reassembling the car.

Here is the light spot where the clear was worn away. Buffing made it a little worse so I decided it best to not continue with that.

I recommended blending or "spotting" in some clear coat to bring this repair closer to completion. As it sits now it's about 90-95% better. If I had gone any further with this dent the paint would surely have cracked wide open and metaphysician would have no option but to put it in the body shop and have half the left side painted/blended. I am disappointed that I couldn't take it the last 5-10% but I made a call to leave it as it is vs. a sure body shop repair. I hope you left happy and remain so after seeing in the daylight for the first time tomorrow

Also on a side note, this color (CGM) is incredibly sexy. Pictures do not do this color justice by a long shot. There is a lot of flake that never comes out in pictures unless the camera is right on top of the paint. I ordered this color and couldn't be happier with my decision...

THX My wife and I have plans to go to Williamsburg after I get my car actually. If things go as planned we will be there for New Years...I can throw some tools in the Camaro and meet you on my way through if you're serious. Post some pics in a PM and I'll at least give you my opinion on whether they are fixable...

Great stuff Chris! I am really impressed with how this turned out. It looks amazing, especially considering how bad of a dent I had. Saved me a lot of cash and having to paint a brand new car. Thanks for taking some photos of the process too!
