So yesterday I drove the car around with the AC on as we are in a heat wave here. No matter what I did to the car it would not go past 180 on the trans. I was in slow traffic at points, a couple WOT pulls on the freeway just because its a Camaro LOL etc. This confirms to me what I have been saying about temps with AC on or off at least with my car......

In arizona as well and mine sits exactly where yours does. Cam/Heads/3600 stall here with no trans cooler.

Well supposedly running a fair bit cooler can increase engine wear but by how much I've no idea. My 180 temps I reported were in about 96F weather the other day which is really hot for my northern neck of the woods.
Driving around last nite AC on & maybe 85 F outside on a road where I could maintain a 40 mph or so speed I didn't go past 170-175 on the gauge. I think thats the cooler giving me that extra bit though. The truth is I've stopped worrying about my trans temps after realizing it was coolant based not trans based specifically. |

You can easily cut off the line from radiator and set a second rad in the line. there is enough space in the front. i did it.
every extra cooling helps. so I got a separate motor oil cooler , cooler thermostate and zl1 hood. I changed the fan temp points, so it never went over 92 C at stop and go and 85 C cruising. Maybe 87 C is a little better, but there are no good thermostates on the market, so I took the 76 C Mishimoto. I think Chevy doesnt make a good job ... |
