Maybe he was just trying to save you from getting a ticket from someone that wasn't as nice as he was. A warning ticket doesn't cost you a nickel.

And since you still refuse to attach it, don't complain if you get tagged for it.
Thanks for clearing that up for me

Troopers here have to issue paper whether it's a warning ticket or a traffic ticket on every car they stop. He could've wrote this guy a real ticket......

Another let's bash the cops thread here we go.........

If you want to debate this please do it in pm's so we don't thread jack anymore.

Illinois troopers issue paper warnings as well. I believe they are required too. There are a few other reasons to issue paper warnings, all have to do with the fact that the stop/warning is documented. Great for issues later on.

Scrappy is dead on about the equipment violation. I have only written one license plate ticket, but have pulled over quite a few for it. The one who got the ticket had multiple things wrong and a pisspoor attitude.

To the OP, I'd look into that flip out bracket when the time comes. You might never get stopped for the plate, but then again.....

I too live in a state where a front license plate is required. And, like most here, I refuse to drill holes in my front bumper in order to install the bracket. When my car was delivered, the dealer did not automatically install it nor did they ask me if I wanted it installed. It was left in the trunk of the car. I have been ticketed once for not having the plate although the car was parked on a public street. I have been told that not having a front plate is NOT a moving violation meaning a cop can not pull you over for just not having a front plate. Since I have been ticketed once, I keep the plate in the back seat and put it in the windshield whenever I park. I have not been ticketed since. I hope this remedies the issue. Again ... I will NOT drill holes just so the car has a front plate

I bought a license plate bracket on ebay (ebay motors) that requires no drilling. It mounts to the two existing bolts under the bumper.

Here is one he has for sale:

He sells another version for cars with GFX too. Just search his store.

Another thing that bugs me about living in Maryland, not going to put a plate on it. I will just take my chances and it's a second vehicle for me my truck has a tag on the front. My Camaro never will.

I re-read the post and may have misinterpreted it. If it was a moving citation, I agree with you. My comments were assuming he wrote a warning to a neighbor while his car was at home.

I've been driving license plate "commando" since getting my Camaro in May and my luck so far has been great. I still contend that if you're within the law otherwise & give no other reason to pull you over most will ignore it. I still recognize its an issue but I've not found a solution I want to implement yet. I have the "Show N Go" manual but didn't install it, I don't like it given it needs a horizontal surface and the 2LT fascia is angled so the plate when visible is angled as well. Top Flight's bracket is interesting though I'd want to be able to remove it for shows and they've indicated the V6 grill is a challenge to make a removal bracket.

Dude, tickets are a pain in the arse. If you feel slighted, try giving out a few less tickets and a few more warnings.

How about the Inverse of this problem...I bought my Camaro off the lot and it already had the front plate holder attached (purchased in a state that requires them). The Car is now registered in a state that doesn't require a front plate, but it appears the plate holder is riveted in place. Any ideas on how to fill the holes left by it if I take it off without paying to have the entire bumper re-painted?

Do like my wife did with her Cobalt.. Run into the back of another car just hard enough to tear the bumper cover.. you will get a brand new one with no holes...and the insurance will cover it...except for your deductable...

How about you trying not to do anything that will require me to write one? It really does go both ways.

I rambled on a bit, and just deleted it. Moral of the story..run without the plate if you wish. Don't get pissy when you get a ticket, warning or otherwise. The officer is just doing their job, as you would be doing yours.

Ok, that's one solution...I could let the car get stolen too, and after paying the deductible the replacement car wouldn't have the plate holder when I get it. Maybe I could have it torched too

How about anyone who isn't so overtly insane?
