Welcome to the forums and I'm sorry it's not under nice circumstances.

I have been burglarized a couple of times. I was so angry and felt violated. How dare they take my hard-earned stuff and invade my personal space! It must be even worse for you, it's your CAMARO!

Oh well. Life goes on. Windows can be repaired and paint buffed.

When it's all fixed and looking new again, share some pics then. Happier times lie ahead.

PS: I'm DEFINITELY getting my windows tinted when I get my car in a few weeks! It'll be harder for the jerks to see into my car.

Wow, thanks for the kinds words everyone! The sense of community here really is amazing; I'm glad to be a part of it!

I'm sure the bum(s) will get what is coming to them eventually, with karma and all that. Maybe they cut themselves reaching into the car to pull out the radar detector. I bled twice trying to clean out all of the glass until I realized that I could just go to the do-it-yourself carwash and use the the vacuum (which worked great... hopefully no one gets injured emptying that thing out).

I've been checking out the v6 boards already and would like to do some basic mods one day (like exhaust). You know, when I have spare cash again. >_<

I was wondering what the stock alarm did, and now I know that it didn't do much. The little red light on the dash sure didn't deter any theft here.

Yes, if the car *was* stolen, then yay I'd get to use OnStar. I actually called them up after I cleaned up the glass enough to sit in it, to see if there was any info that they needed about the break in. The lady said that they could help if I needed to call anybody, but other than that, they didn't fill out any paperwork on their end.

For the fellow Austinite, I work up at IBM on Burnet Rd/Mopac. My friend who works at the other IBM building across the street recently got his truck window busted... but all he had in there were old gym clothes which they didn't take. Security also patrols over there too, and were also useless in preventing that crime.

Well, the glass people can't replace the glass until Friday. Tomorrow I have an appointment with the body shop guys about the paint scratches. Good thing too because it has been pretty cold (by TX standards) here lately. There have been reports that it may actually snow here within the next few days (this almost never happens in Austin)... good thing the heated seats and super-hot heater in the car work wonders. I may have to use a rental car for this weekend, even though I was planning on driving the Camaro down to Kingsville, TX (just south of Corpus Christi) to see my girlfriend. We'll see what happens.

I'll definitely post up some more photos once things are fixed, hopefully soon!

Hello! I'm pretty new here myself; still learning the ropes. I think they delete most of my posts, if you know what i mean.

I read your post, and had an immediate 'flashback' to my last brand new baby. The exact same thing happened to my '01 (remain nameless foreign vehicle). Less than a month, and busted window, scratchs inside and outside... even took my speaker box (which was later recovered... in the woods?).

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know, there are greedy idiots out there everywhere... but resilience always wins out! Meaning, you'll replace the window, fix the scratches... and be driving that BEAUTIFUL American Muscle Car for many many more years! EDIT: SCREW those thieving bastards!!! (see why they delete my posts)

Again, welcome to the board, but more importantly CONGRATS on the CAMARO!!!!

If someone ever did that to my baby, they better hope the police found them before I did, because they wouldn't be found after that!

Wow, too bad. Had the same thing happen to me in Houston (in my 300C not my camaro) about a year ago. Smashed the window just for the radar detector. Now I take it off every time I park. Just a habit. Also had my $7K stereo ripped out of the car at the parking terminal of the Houston airport. Would be nice to walk up on one of these SOB's with a concealed handgun once! You will get over it but you will be finding glass in your car for months. It is amazing how that stuff spreads out and hides.

Welcome!

That sucks!

I have heard of people breaking in glass to get a radio, or even change from the center console.... I mean comon you are gonna cost someone hundreds of bucks to make off with $2.50? It's really an amazing lack of respect. I hope your car gets fixed up very soon!
