If I had to chose a tuner just to plug in out of the box, then It would be the SCT BDX. I will let you know up front that sometimes you might have to get in touch with SCT directly when setting these up. These can be a little hit and miss right out of the box. So if you decide to get one and plan on setting it up on Saturday make sure you know how to get a hold the SCT tech support which have limited hours on Saturday.

Says $600, yeah someone has their wires crossed. Are you ok?

There were other people told they must buy these too. That's only the ones who posted about it.

My engine tune looks good, mostly just advertised pricing and after the sale support experience may vary.

I mean if you want to get into details I could go much further, one example is how you sent the tune in a ''beta" HP tuner format that couldn't be loaded as it wasn't released yet. Requiring a delay as I had to coordinate with HP tuner to get permission to load their beta software.
If you want people to get out the popcorn...

You know I don't understand how you can be mad about something and not talk to me about it, but have no reservations about bashing me in a public forum.

I would be happy to hear you out over the phone or in person where we can settle our difference like gentlemen.

Just a Note for all, The SCT X3 X4 Free custom tune program does not apply to HPtuners custom tuning, never has never will, it is a vastly different system.

This Thread is about Hand Held Tuners of which the SCT X4 is, and what the discussion was about.

HPtuners has nothing to do with this discussion.

Ted.

You had no reservations telling me you wanted nothing further to do with supporting my build or looking at my tune log after I spent thousands with you. I am ok with that, but when you repeat that "it's free" I'll call you out on it. Already in this thread you've identified multiple cases where it's not free which was my experience and my point originally.
A few posts above you said, there is no such thing (I'm lying), and I have my wires crossed. Is that a gentleman thing to do in a public forum? If you want to do that I'll post proof as I did.
You have 8000 other customers so I'm not important.

What's the difference between this and the x4?

You have 8000 other customers so I'm not important.
In this case you jumped in a conversation that has nothing to do with you or HPtuners tuning, in the SS LS LT General discussions in an effort to discredit JRE SCT Remote tune program that has been the same for 10 years.

You have a highly modified ZL-1 and Use HPtuners so there is no relevance here.

The reason I said there is no such thing as a 600.00 fuel rail, thinking you had an SS model and was tuned with SCT.

Again this conversation is about What Handheld tuners do you guys recommend in the SS LS LT General discussions

I offered my services and you felt it necessary to call me out on a subject totally unrelated, this is called Trolling and it forbidden in this forum.

HPtuners was never FREE and never will be FREE so if you can't accept that I don't know what to tell you.

I do not recall who you are or just shutting someone down unless they are not willing to listen to reason.

I rarely have to fire customers but will when there is no other choice.

Keep in mind, Right or wrong, I bear the brunt of the responsibility when something goes wrong even in the event when a customer will not take my advice then something fails.

I don't need a broken engine on my watch.

It is always the tuners fault when something fails, whether you want to admit it any wrongdoing or not.

So If I shut you down there must be a Very Good reason for it.

There is nothing that can't be resolved with a conversation and willingness.

I don't hold grudges and always open to starting over.

Ted.

I don't have a highly modified ZL1. No cam, no porting, no headers...and don't need a $600 rail. Yeah you didn't understand that on the phone either so you were quck to "fire me". Like I said that's all good with me. There are other posts on that topic, in fact since you brought it up here is another one with you must buy extra parts:

YOU were the one who jumped in about tuning not me, dis'ing DynoSteve and saying you have better prices (free) and customer service. Simply not true, that isn't a troll.
I didn't say much in my first reply, but each post you call me out.
I haven't posted about my biggest areas of concerns about your service, but keep calling me out, we'll see if I share that PSA.

And I dont have nay skin in this game, but I really dont see an issue with a tuner giving the customer a recommendation on potentially needed parts. Especially someone who has been doing it for many years. I'm a service manager in a large RV dealership and we will make these kinds of recommendations all the time. I feel I would be doing a diservice to the customer if I didnt at least make them aware of potential issues like that. Hopefully you guys can get it worked out.

Calling someone a troll is a good response?. Actually your comments are the ones not needed. You have no first hand knowledge or experience as a customer of what we are talking about but seem to need to interject.

The comments are fun to watch and quite interesting. But I did buy the SCT tuner from ted's shop along with $10k more in parts. I honestly don't remember if I got charged for the tune but I don't think so. The tune he emailed me worked very well and I probably could have left it that way and been fine but I brought it in to Ted to get Dyno tuned anyway. There are a couple things I wasn't thrilled about but it wasn't enough that I wanted to bring it up. I am pretty passive. As far as the tune Ted sent it was good.

On another note. I already had a diablosport trinity tuner for my truck. ted was unable to tune my car using the Diablo tuner which is why I purchased the SCT tuner. Yet I can still plug in the diablosport tuner which has some very nice features and you can read all your data on one screen. It has a 1/8 and 1/4 mile function I think 0-100 as well. So it is cool to hook up now and then If I want to easily check data or do an acceleration test. I haven't even hooked up the SCT tuner since I installed the email tune so I don't know what kinda functions it has or how user friendly it is.

Well actually you jumped in and slammed a competitor unprovoked claiming that you "fix free tunes for life daily." Then proceeded to tell us all how great you are.
