If GM were looking a dealership in Houston to display Bumblebee at, Bill Heard was the wrong one. Any Houstonian who watches the 10 o'clock news knows not to deal with them. I'm not sure how they're still in business.

True....but they are a high volume dealer and according to Ed Peper they were one of the top Camaro sellers in the country in 2002 and thats what the allotment for 2010 Camaros is based on. So when they asked for a car to display for thier grand reopening, I guess that had some pull with GM.

Hence the grand re-opening with new management and more trained salespeople. Those horror stories are years old and the news loves to re-hash them. I currently work @ Bill Head in Sugar Land for 2 years plus now. About 3 years ago they changed all the management. It's not the same....I promise. I cant speak for Mr. Heard's other out of state stores, but I do represent Bill Heard Sugar Land which is #1 in sales volume in Houston month in and month out. You can't pull those numbers w/o fair deals and bad practices. Just ask Shunt....he met me yesterday, and I'm not scary @ all, nor the typical salesperson. I will say we have the most allocation for 2010 Camaros in Houston if anyone is interested. Pricing info will be out in December....which is when we can take down payments(deposits) for your new Camaro. Production starts Feb 16th! We are expecting first shipments by late March.

Didn't know they changed management. Last experience I had with them was in 2002 when I was shopping for an Avalanche. I pulled into the lot and 5 salesmen came running out and surrounded me and one was trying to open the passenger door, but it was locked. I kept driving and the guard wasn't going to raise the gate to let me out at first, but I dumped the clutch to run through it and he raised it at the last second. But, yesterday was a way better experience.

Wow, maybe it was because it was Saturday morning, but that was a relatively pain free experience compared to the last time I set foot on Bill Heard's lot. I had one salesman approach us after we unloaded the kids and asked if we were looking for anything in particular. I told him we were there to see Bumblebee. He was polite and pointed us towards the showroom. Never had another salesman approach us after that, even as we wandered the lot looking at the various colors that will be on the Camaro.

After getting to see the non-driveable Bumblebee in person, given that the final production model is pretty near in similarity, I'm definitely sold. Great looking car in person. Slightly larger than I imagined it would be but certainly has a great stance. The windowsill on the doors hits right about 36" high or so. Certainly not too tall but not as low as I had hoped. The car is wide but doesn't feel like it once you compare it to the flat expanse of a Z06 across the hood. As reported before, there was no engine and certainly not a usable interior but from the outside it looks great just standing still.

As for colors, I liked seeing the Bumblebee yellow but I also managed to find Malibus with Imperial Blue and Red Jewel Tint Coat and multiple vehicles in Victory Red. I had my mind set on the Red Jewel Tint Coat but after seeing it in person, the color has too much burgundy undertone and looks more like a nail polish'y kind of a color without much sparkle. They did have a couple of Corvettes in Cyber Grey Metallic and it is certainly a beautiful color. It was overcast when I looked at it the first time and the color was pretty dark, not quite black but dark and mean looking. Then the sun came out and it lightened up and looked great. Just moved to the top of my list for color choices but I'll wait until I can see the colors on the actual Camaro in the spring.

Best part about going was the reaction on my 4 1/2 year son's face when the doors opened and he saw Bumblebee. Sheer excitement - grinning ear to ear, eyes bugging out of his head. He was disappointed that it didn't turn into a giant alien robot (like most of us are) but he sure was excited to see it in person after watching the movie 10+ times.

Couldn't get any additional information that we don't already know concerning the Camaro trim levels, options, colors, and (lack of) pricing.

Here's some of the pictures I took and the rest can be found here.
