I was so disappointed by Gilbert....he totally choked for the entire first half. But then again the coaches could be blamed for the loss too........DAMN THEM for not letting Colt back in

Maybe you need to read this article...he couldn't even throw the ball 7 yards..so why would you want him back?

Further than Gilbert If McCoy had a true sprain why wasn't he in a sling.......Colt said he could go back in but the trainers, coaches and even his dad kept him from doing that for his "NFL Career"........i was so disappointed.

He Choked? Seriously? Have you ever tried to play QB before? Cut the guy some slack, it was his 1st meaningful playing time, he had no prep time w/ the O, and he was going up against one of the top 3 teams in the nation.

I'm convinced that Texas would've won big if Colt had played the whole game

I wouldn't call it choking...just lack of experience... this was his first real college game...just happened to be the BCS Championship....I still blame the coaches for not better preparing him for the game. He'll be a great quarterback given some time!

Imagine this... you are 19 years old. You've taken a total of 26 snaps all season long and probably half of those were hand offs to the RBs. There has been absolutely ZERO pressure all year long on you to do anything in a game. You walk into the Rose Bowl stadium just hanging back and enjoying everything and thinking to yourself that in a few years, you could be in Colts shoes leading your team, but in the mean time you are just happy to be apart of the team.

Kickoff. Texas D hold. You watch your mentor for the past year go in to the game and get Texas 3 points. Bama special teams mistake....Texas' ball. You are elated, man I can't wait to play in front of a crowd like this one of these days. Coach walks up to you and say, you're up kid. It's your turn. There isn't an athlete in the world who would perform any better given his situation.

The game was far from Gilbert's fault.

"TEXAS" Football

While I realize I am a little late posting this as my puter here in Brazil hasn't been cooperating I want to make a comment...

People have weighed in here from far and wide...
Alabama--- 1 ???, Kudos to Alabama for a Great Season and the National Championship, Well Deserved..
Calif,
Mich,
Ga,
Chicago??? K-State???
and Nebraska...

I did a little survey via ESPN sites and re-affirmed my thoughts...

Feel Free To Flame...

What would College football be without "TEXAS" football...

Alabama...??? National Champions... Kudos...I was actually pulling for them as I was born in Mobile, and am a huge life long fan of the Bear...
109 roster/55 from Alabama, 3 from Texas...

Florida, 111 roster/71 from Florida, 5 from Texas

Nebraska, 140 roster/67 from Nebraska, 21 from Texas

Ohio State, 117 roster/74 from Ohio, 2 from Texas

LSUoosers...19 from Texas,--- Just kidding, I actually like LSU since so many of my friends and co-workers are rabid fans...and you cannot go anywhere in La without being fed great food with a friendly hello... from my sons college baseball days... He's playing pro baseball now...

Oklahummers...(figure it out) 44 from Texas,

K-State, 34 from Texas and only 22 from Kansas...???

TCU--- 19 non-Texans

Texas A&M---9 non-Texans

Texas-----------6 Non Texans...for 49 other states... ???

Oh, and we still have Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Rice, Houston, Baylor, SMU and a host of Div 1-2AA schools and Div 2 and 3 schools with football programs...

A friend of my dad told him there were 20,000 fans in the Meadowlands for a state championship HS football game a number of years ago... my dad replied that there were 45000 fans in the Astrodome the same year for a state semi final game...

Without the great "STATE OF TEXAS," College football would be nowhere near the game it is today...

If you want to look at it in another way, if K-State were to win it all this year, Texas wins, If LSU were to have won it all, Texas could brag, if Oklahoma ever wins it again, Texas wins...

If Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Houston, Baylor, SMU, TCU, Rice, etc... win it, TEXAS wins...

Just my thoughts...

And you forgot to mention something else. The Quarterback for Alabam was from Austin. And the guy who forced the fumble on Texas' freshman QB when the Texas squad looked like it was going to drive down the field again was from San Antonio.

But hey, the game is over, what happened has happened, and we can all look forward to next season. Yeah, I've got a bitter taste in my mouth, but it's not nearly as bad, I'm sure, as my friend who DROVE out to Cali for the game. Texas had a great season, Colt McCoy had an amazing career at Texas and will do just fine in the NFL. No one can take away the fact that Colt is the winningest quarterback in college football history, as well as the most accurate. He has practically re-written the record books at Texas and it should be interesting to see Garrett Gilbert step in and try to make a name for himself.

Let's not forget, as a high school football player, Garrett was considered the top QB of his class and led his team to a 39-4 record as a starter over the course of his sophomore through senior years and two straight state titles. I'm excited to see him step in and take over the reigns. I would be even happier if Greg Davis (the offensive coordinator for Texas) got fired, but one can only dream

are you serious? give the kid a break he is a TRUE FRESHMAN. he came that day and had no clue he was going to be thrown in against arguably (at the time) the best team in college. what he did for the first half is totally EXPECTED. whats not expected by a freshman qb with no starts, no td passes, no experience, is to RALLY BACK WITHIN 3 PTS and 2 touchdown passes. this game was huge for him and invaluably rich with experience, and he will be all the better for it next year. its unfortunate for the longhorns that colt got knocked out, sure i wanted to see him come back and try, but theres no way he would jeopardize his multi million dollar future.

also im totally not agreeing with the whole coaching causing the loss....im a UT fan, in austin, and honestly, alabama just played better. the coaching was the only thing that got them within 3. we lost colt, and with that, our morale, the game was botched from the beginning and alabama did what they should have.

i thought it was a good game.
